Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise not only produced his performance of the season with a hat-trick of assists against Leeds United but also found time to tell off their wheelchair section. The young Englishman appears to be soaring under new manager Roy Hodgson, with the Eagles soaring in the ‘new manager’s bounce’ period.
They picked up a huge 5-1 win over Leeds in a result that had quite a bit of an impact on the Premier League relegation race. With the win, Palace were able to take them out of the relegation running – for now – and produced a real tour de force at Elland Road.
Olise proved just how good he can be in the right system with an amazing performance. He produced a brilliant cross to set up Jordan’s Ayew goal before two impressive final third passes to serve goals on a plate for Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard. In doing so, the Palace winger became the youngest player in Premier League history to claim three assists in a single game.
Olise’s reaction to Leeds United wheelchair section spotted
The 21-year-old Englishman appeared to be quite annoyed with one particular section of Leeds United fans at Elland Road – which was the wheelchair section. This is a special place in the stadium that is reserved for physically challenged supporters who can’t watch the game while standing and need to be seated in a relatively safe space.
It appears that something might’ve happened between Olise and the Leeds’ wheelchair section fans during the game. After Marc Guehi equalized for Palace in the first half, he decided to do a ‘praying’ sign celebration on Easter Sunday by pointing his fingers to the sky.
However, out of nowhere, Olise came out with expletive words for the Leeds wheelchair supporters just beside him. The 21-year-old was audibly heard saying ‘shut the f*** up,’ to that section of the home fans – showing very little care about what others would be thinking about him.
Marc Guehi’s hilarious response to Olise’s expletive comments
What Olise didn’t realize when he told off the Leeds’ wheelchair section was that Guehi was doing his ‘praying’ celebration right beside him. After he bellowed out the ‘shut the f*** up’ comment, the Palace center-back was visibly surprised by seeing that kind of reaction from his junior player.
Guehi probably thought that Olise’s comments weren’t exactly ‘Christian’ and might’ve found it to be a little bit unnecessary on Easter Sunday. His reaction has become viral on social media, with fans just not able to get enough of how hilariously he looks at the young English winger after his comments.
To his credit, Olise was able to put his money where his mouth was after bellowing out that to the Leeds faithful. It was only after the equalizer that the 21-year-old turned up the heat on the Leeds players and tormented them in the second half.
He’d go on to have a hattrick of assists soon afterward, helping Palace get a huge win over their relegation rivals and climb to a relatively safe space in the Premier League, as they now sit in the 12th place, having a six-point gap over 18th place Nottingham Forest.
