Manchester City‘s away kit for the next season appears to have been leaked on Twitter, and it looks classic.
Pep Guardiola’s men are so far enjoying an all-but-perfect campaign. In the Premier League, they’ve closed the gap on Arsenal to just one point, with an all-important clash between the two sides yet to be played on their own perch. While Erling Haaland‘s ruthless performance in the 3-0 first-leg win over Bayern Munich have put them in a commanding position to progress into the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Their challenge in the FA Cup outing at Wembley is relatively an easy one, with Championship outfit Sheffield United scheduled to face their star power attack this weekend.
City are in a great position to win an elusive treble, and could finally join the world football echelon going into the 2023/24 season. And it seems PUMA has found a perfect fit for the potential start of a new era in the Blue side of Manchester. With superstars like Haaland and Jack Grealish at their disposal, all City needs is a treble, or even the Champions League for that matter to turn into one of England’s biggest shirt-selling clubs, akin to their rivals Manchester United.
Social media user @CitySZN_23 has shared pictures of what could be City’s away kit for the next season, and fair to say the German kit supplier has done great work.
The off-white, cream colour, instantly gives the kit a classy vibe. At first look, some may mistake the kit for Roma’s away jersey designed by New Balance for the current season. But the diamond grid pattern in front and on the sleeves make City’s kit distinct.
City’s 2022/23 away kit, meanwhile, has red and black diagonal stripes. Against Bayern in the second leg on Wednesday, City are unlikely to don this jersey, as the German team’s home kit has similar shades on it. As such, expect to see Guardiola’s men rocking their third kit – a bright green colour jersey with details inspired by the city street art.
As far as affairs on the pitch are concerned, City are traveling to Munich with a full-strength squad. Phil Foden, another Manchester favourite and potential marketing phenomenon for PUMA’s kit, has returned to full training. The Sky Blues have won 10 games in a row, and will only get more confidence going into the game at Allianz Arena with Foden in the squad.
Bayern, however, are not in the best run of form at the moment, having dropped two points at home to relegation-threatened Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday following their 3-0 thrashing at the Etihad last week. Thomas Tuchel will be without Lucas Hernandez (knee) and Manuel Neuer (broken leg). Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the side’s only recognised number nine is a doubt after sustaining a knee injury. The Cameroon star also didn’t feature in the first leg of the quarter-finals. It’ll be interesting to see whether former Liverpool man Sadio Mane returns to the squad to face the Premier League giants after his altercation with ex-City man, Leroy Sane.
