Celebrating the Elderly Lady Who Stole the Show with a Newcastle Flag in Hand

Newcastle United, St. James' Park

In stark contrast to the gloom and doom that formed around Newcastle United in recent years, the Magpies are presently in dreamland.

Their fortunes were flipped following a big-money takeover from the Saudis, which saw the Toon finally escape the clutches of Mike Ashley.

In the time since, Newcastle have effectively been restored into a proper Footballing institution once again through administrative changes from top to bottom.

Aside from a major shakeup in the transfers department, the biggest change to usher in the new era was the appointment of Eddie Howe as head coach.

The English manager has done an outstanding job with the talent at his disposal, be it his role in transforming former club-record signing Joelinton or the robust mentality he has instilled into his side.

Newcastle’s transfer-market activity has wonderfully supplemented Howe’s along the way, as notable additions including the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Alexander Isak and Sven Botman among others have given fans new heroes to sing about.

And speaking of the Toon army, they’ve been absolutely brilliant.

The Magpies have been blessed with a rabid fanbase that have stuck by the side no matter their fortunes.

Even when the club were languishing in the relegation zone, the fans remained at their passionate best.

With Newcastle currently at the cusp of Champions League qualification, the Toon Army have turned every matchday into a celebration.

The atmosphere at St James’ Park is best summed up as rapturous, and away ends housing the Newcastle faithful have consistently been drowning out the home support.

The Football club’s success has united the entirety of Tyneside, something which is on display every time the team take to the pitch.

The love for Newcastle stretches far beyond the superficial boundaries of race, ethnicities, wealth or even age.

No matter the background, the vibes surrounding the club have infected every fan, as evidenced by this lovely clip featuring an elated Geordie.

Shared by the Newcastle United Supporter’s Club through their Twitter, the clip displays an ecstatic fan, who despite her age, expressed her love for the club in an emphatic fashion.

Captured during the Magpies’ sensational 6-1 drubbing of Spurs, it places the focus on an elderly lady, who turned on the jets and ran through the stands while clutching onto a Newcastle flag.

Dismaying any and all preconceived notions about age, the fan was simply buzzing with energy.

She jubilantly waved her arms as she galloped forward, all while the fans around cheered her on.

The sights were uncannily similar to a batter jogging towards home plate after hitting a clutch homer, or the fanfare around a rally-runner as they sprint towards the finish line.

Simply put, the scenes were glorious, and they perfectly represent the passion of any fan, young or old.
