David Beckham Turns Up at PSG Camp, Even Lionel Messi is a Fanboy

David Beckham, the former English football player and football’s one of the biggest icons, made headlines when he recently visited the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) camp a few days ago. The Inter Miami owner shared snaps of himself along with several PSG players, including Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Sergio Ramos.

A former Parisian himself, Beckham played for PSG during the 2012-2013 season, after a stint in the United States with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The former midfielder played 14 matches for PSG, 10 of which were in Ligue 1. Beckham helped PSG win the league title that season.

The iconic move to the French capital saw Beckham sign a five-month deal with the Parisians, a deal which resulted in Beckham giving all his salary earned at PSG away to a local charity for children.

Beckham’s visit to the PSG camp was a part of the former Man United ace’s trip to the city of Paris. The visit turned out to be an opportunity for him to reconnect with the club, meet with former teammates Sergio Ramos and Marco Verratti, and catch up with the current squad of a star-studded PSG side.

Clips surfacing online via various media handles shared glimpses of Beckham’s trip to PSG’s training session. Pulling off a brown ensemble, Becks was carrying his usual drip as the England legend caught up with his last-ever football club as a professional.

Alongside Beckham’s post itself, multiple pictures surfaced on Twitter from the meetup. Among the notable clicks were images of David Beckham with PSG’s poster boy and France’s very own Kylian Mbappe. The world cup winner was grinning ear-to-ear upon meeting the Real Madrid legend.

Beckham also caught up with former teammates Sergio Ramos and Marco Verratti. Becks and Ramos were part of Madrid’s Galactico era and played together for two years before the former left to play for LA Galaxy in the United States. Verratti, on the other hand, is the only PSG player from the Parisian squad that Beckham was a part of, who is still kicking it at the French capital.

Another picture with the PSG captain and star defender Marquinhos showed Beckham holding up a PSG jersey with Beckham’s shirt number 32 (from his days at PSG) and his name printed on the back, referencing his spell at the club 10 years ago.

Notably, the clip of Becks meeting with Neymar Jr outside the Camp des Loges caught some fans by surprise as they expected the former Barcelona-man to be in Brazil while the PSG #10 heals from his injury.

The Inter Miami owner then posed with the majority of the PSG squad in a shot that involved 24 of PSG’s first-team squad from the season. Beckham could be spotted taking centre stage.

However, among the clips and pictures that surfaced online, it was Beckham’s shots with world cup winner Lionel Messi that caught the most attention from the fans.

Messi’s shy nature was once again on display as the fans were quick to notice the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner grinning like a teenager upon meeting one of football’s biggest superstars. Reacting to the clip, a Twitter user commented, “I’ve never seen Messi fanboy.” “Got him blushing and everything” reacted another user.

Amusingly, it was also hyped up that Beckham’s trip to the PSG camp was the Briton’s attempt to lure Messi to a deal with his club in the MLS, Inter Miami.

About six months ago, Inter Miami was rumoured to be Messi’s most likely destination if the Argentine were to leave Paris Saint-Germain. However, as things stand, Messi apparently has his heart set on returning to his boyhood club, FC Barcelona. With reports suggesting Leo and Barca have almost struck a deal, a potential move to the States now seems to be the least probable next step in Messi’s career.
