The latest photoshoot, which features Inter Milan partnering with their kit creator Nike for the promotion of Nike’s premium footwear “Air Max 97”, has caught the public eye lately.
Nike, the well-renowned sports brand, collaborates with Italian giants Inter Milan once again for the release of a custom Inter Milan edition of Nike’s one of the most iconic silhouettes, this time being Air Max 97s.
The blue and black sneakers follow the traditional colours of the Nerazzurri. Decorated in the shades of Inter, the sneakers house the iconic piping we’ve come to expect from the silhouette.
Nike has been synonymous with the Serie A outfit for more than a couple of decades now. Over the years, the Beaverton-based sports brand has designed numerous Inter kits and other sporting accessories.
Parallely, Inter themselves have collaborated with the Swoosh to launch special edition kits, sneakers and other accessories in the past. The Inter × Air Max 97s are yet another example of that collaboration.
The sneakers in question, the AM97s are among the mega-favourite pair of Air Max among fans. Launched in 1997, the sleek and modern-looking designs in its further iterations have made the shoes cherished amongst sneaker enthusiasts.
The Air Max 97 is still renowned as being the label’s first shoe to use a full-length, dual-pressure airbag in full-length polyurethane.
Previously, Inter partnered with the Swoosh to launch the “limited-edition Air Force 1” back in 2021, a pair that sold out almost instantaneously. Expect something similar with the much-awaited Air Max 97s.
A special “Friends and Family version”, of the Blue and Black AM97, which is set to release on May 2nd, is reportedly limited to just 200 pairs.
Inter Milan let the world be known of the upcoming special sneakers through their social media handles via a photoshoot. Featuring Inter talisman Lautaro Martinez, loanee Romelu Lukaku and midfield ace Nicolo Barella sporting the brand-new sneakers, the shoot revealed Nike’s collaboration with the Milanese outfit through some clicks that go hard.
The retail version, just like the previously collaborated sneakers, is expected to be flown off the shelves as soon as they land online on May 2. The cost at which these sneakers will be copped off, however, is yet to be determined. Given the model of the sneakers, expect to see a hefty price tag on these special edition AM97s.
Inter supporters would be hoping for the sneakers to come along with an ounce of good luck as they look forward to the much-awaited UCL semi-final clash between the two Milan sides at the San Siro/Guiseppe Meazza.
Despite a place in the Coppa Italia final, an average season domestically sees Inter Milan in sixth position in the points table at the time of writing. With a UCL spot out of sight through their league position, going all the way into the UEFA Champions League could possibly be the only method that confirms a champions league birth for the Nerazzurri next season.
