With the season effectively at its business end, a discourse surrounding the shape of Marcus Rashford’s head is possibly the last thing one would expect to come across.
But given Football Twitter‘s frivolous nature, we can’t say that we’re surprised to see such a discussion emerge.
The Manchester United striker got caught in the crosshairs of troll-savvy fans online recently, with the focus being entirely on his head.
The bizarre occurrence led to equal parts bafflement and amusement among users online.
Although, we reckon the 25-year-old himself wouldn’t have been too keen on the discussion.
Rashford has enjoyed a solid campaign this season, one that has seen him effectively turn into United’s talisman.
Following the turn of the year, the forward tapped into a rich vein of goal-scoring form as he went on a 7 game streak, which included crucial goals against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Barcelona.
In total, the England International has grabbed 29 goals this season alongside 11 assists.
His rampant form came to a screeching halt last month as he picked up a muscle injury, which did enough to hamper the forward’s momentum.
Since his return from the sidelines, Rashford has managed just 1 goal in 6 appearances, a stat he’ll certainly be thinking about improving on as soon as possible.
Another matter on his mind could possibly be the trolling session we mentioned earlier, one that was brought on after a social media post by former teammate Jesse Lingard.
Despite his departure from United at the beginning of the campaign, the pair remain close friends, as evidenced by this image shared by the Nottingham Forest man.
Uploaded on Instagram alongside a series of other pictures, the image displayed Rashford and Lingard striking a pose together.
Decked out in designer streetwear, the pair threw up gestures with an air of nonchalance, making for a breezy click.
But it didn’t take long for fans to find fault in the picture, and on this occasion, it had all to do with the odd shape of Rashford’s head.
To be fair to the forward, the angle in use does him no favours here, and neither does the person behind the lens.
That said, the shape of his head lacks any semblance of symmetry and appears to have a rather bizarre alignment
Going by the image, his forehead is dented in, while his nose is protruding out almost comically.
The chin also looks to be a bit off-kilter, and all in all, the shape is undesirable at the very least.
Fans on Twitter felt the same way, as they pointed to the shape calling it ‘outrageous’, ‘unique’. ‘strange ‘ and much more.
Aside from the comments, some users suggested that Rashford should look into replacing his cameraman – a fair shout considering the abysmal angle.
The 25-year-old also earned comparisons with the likes of Vincent Kompany and American rapper DaBaby while his pictures were given what we’re calling the ‘Pinocchio treatment’.
