Joshua Kimmich, the Bayern Munich midfielder, has emerged as a potential transfer target for Liverpool as fresh reports about his uncertain future at the German club.

Since joining Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in 2015, Kimmich has amassed an impressive collection of silverware, including eight Bundesliga titles, three domestic cups, and one Champions League trophy. His adaptability to play both in defense and midfield has solidified his reputation as one of Europe’s most dependable players.

While Liverpool typically doesn’t target established players like Kimmich, their midfield is facing an uncertain future with doubts surrounding key players Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. As a result, Liverpool might need to explore new avenues to reinforce their squad this summer.

Joshua Kimmich has expressed his admiration for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, However, the two Germans have never worked together due to their different career paths. Kimmich praised Klopp’s coaching style, stating how he pushes his players to perform at another level and admiring Liverpool’s playing style, adding fuel to the transfer rumors.

Bayern Munich’s previous stance of considering Kimmich unsellable seems to have changed after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, with the club now willing to entertain offers for the versatile midfielder at £52 million.

With two years left on his contract, Kimmich is drawing attention from various Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, who see him as a potential solution to their midfield needs.

The move would not be unprecedented, as Liverpool previously signed Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, proving that experienced midfielders have a place in Klopp’s squad.

Moreover, Klopp’s tactical flexibility, as evidenced by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deployment in midfield, makes Kimmich an attractive prospect given his ability to play both in defense and midfield.

Liverpool faces stiff competition from Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola, Kimmich’s former coach at Bayern Munich, seeks to reinforce his midfield after losing Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona. Additionally, Barcelona itself has shown interest in the German midfielder, although financial constraints could hinder any significant move.

Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Harry Kane may indirectly impact Kimmich’s future, as the club needs to free up funds for a potential blockbuster transfer. This development could be the opening Liverpool needs to secure Kimmich’s services for their midfield.
