Manchester City defeated Bayern Munich for the second time in 2023 in their pre-season friendly clash in Japan on Wednesday, July 26, but one of the most talked-about things was Thomas Tuchel’s conversation with Bernardo Silva after full-time.
The two teams have become discreet rivals over the last few years and the Cityzens seem to have the Bundesliga champions’ number. T
hey defeated them in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals last season, including a massive 3-0 win in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium. Tuchel was outwitted by Guardiola, who took his revenge for the loss in the 2021 Champions League final.
Thomas Tuchel’s animated interaction with Bernardo Silva spotted
However, the German manager appears to be aiming at his own bit of revenge in the form of trying to snatch one of City’s most efficient players. Soon after the game between the two sides, a video surfaced of Tuchel having a free-flowing, friendly conversation with Bernardo on the pitch.
A newly-bald Bernardo seems to approach Tuchel to tell him about something and the manager then puts his arm around him. While it’s not noticeable exactly what they are talking about, as their backs are to the camera, they seem to be in an animated conversation.
But it’s quite clear after a few seconds that they are just having a friendly chat about something as the Portuguese midfielder can be seen smiling towards Tuchel and appreciating what he is saying. The German gaffer is quite animated with his gestures towards him and gives him a little rub on Silva’s bald head before the two go their own ways.
At this point in time, one can only guess what kind of conversation they were having because their words were not caught on camera. They could’ve been talking about the weather, the condition of the pitch or even Bernardo’s decision to go fully bald after winning the European Treble with City.
Bayern Munich fans suggest possible offers to bring Bernardo to their club
However, some Bayern Munich fans believe that Tuchel is trying his best to snap up the versatile midfielder.
This comes amid reports that the Portugal international is open to leaving the club, and he has even been linked to a move to Barcelona as well as being offered stunning figures by a Saudi Arabian club over a summer transfer.
Bayern fans are craving to sign an energetic, innovative midfielder like Bernardo in their team and are urging Tuchel to get this deal done soon. The Bavarian giants’ supporters are urging the club to use some of their own players in a possible player-swap deal to bring the 27-year-old to their club.
Some supporters are actually open to sending Leroy Sane back to Man City if that can help sign a player like Bernardo.
A few Bayern fans are even open to adding Kingsley Coman to a possible swap dean and even their prolific forward Serge Gnabry if that can act as a major sweetener.
Realistically, however, there are few chances of Bernardo Silva joining Bayern Munich – irrespective of the ‘never say never’ rule in football. He is rumoured to have a whopping price tag of £75 million, which can make it tough for any team barring those in Saudi to sign him this summer.
The Bavarians are more likely to sign Man City defender Kyle Walker, who is reportedly keen to join them. When it comes to those dreaming of a Tuchel x Bernardo link-up, they might have to keep doing just that or at least wait for the foreseeable future to see it happen.
