In the field of sports, athletes usually tower above the average person due to their genetics, but it is not a normal sight when we witness an athlete who even makes professional football players look small.
An extraordinary moment occurred recently when Senegalese basketball talent Mamadou N’Diaye with a giant-like height of 7 feet and 6 inches shared the spotlight with some Manchester City players.
He was pictured with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, midfielder Bernardo Silva, and goalkeeper Ederson in the dressing room after their recent Premier League victory against West Ham United.
Haaland is known for his impressive presence standing tall at 6 feet and 4 inches, being one of the tallest players in the Premier League and an immense aerial threat for the opposition defenders.
However, the tables were turned this time when the 30-year old basketball player N’Diaye entered the picture making Haaland look like Messi.
The picture quickly became a talking point as it went viral on social media, where the basketballer made the Norwegian poacher seem tiny in front of him.
Even Ederson, who stands at 6 feet 2 inches and commands the backline for the Champions of Europe only managed to reach N’Diaye’s bicep.
But the funniest of all height comparisons was with the midfield maestro Bernardo Silva, who is only 5 feet 8 inches tall and stood right next to N’Diaye for the picture but barely made it past his chest.
It sparked hilarious reactions from football fans who could not express their shock at the height differences they witnessed. One fan expressed: “Haaland ain’t supposed to look that tiny,” while another good-humouredly commented: “I thought Haaland was huge, but…”
Silva managed to catch strays as well when a fan commented: “Bernardo looks like his neighbor’s son in this picture.” Another said that the picture makes Silva look like he was starting his first day at school.
Manchester City defender, Manuel Akanji was luckily sparred of height comparisons as he later met up with the basketball player, exchanging shirts and giving him a tour of the stadium.
But this spectacle didn’t end on the football field. During N’Diaye’s recent trip to London, he was pictured cheekily posing next to an old red telephone box.
These telephone boxes stand a towering 8 feet 3 inches in height and are present all over the city. But to put his unreal height into some perspective, the camera angles made it look like he was as tall as the iconic London landmark.
This mind-boggling height discrepancy is not only limited to the world of football. Mamadou N’Diaye is also a fan of Formula 1 and was pictured with Alpha Tauri driver Yuki Tsunoda, who is merely 5 feet 3 inches in height and looked like a child in front of the giant basketballer.
