Eric Dier has now become an out-of-favour player at Tottenham Hotspur spending nearly a whole decade at the club.
He’s made over 300 appearances for them but has been totally outcast by Ange Postecoglou. The Englishman has not made a single competitive appearance for Spurs and only got a few minutes of action in pre-season.
Dier failed to secure a transfer away from Spurs in the summer transfer window and is now frozen out. He’s unlikely to get any game-time until at least January, when he could look for a transfer to a club that will play him.
The 29-year-old’s confidence levels also seem to be at an all-time low. That was quite evident in a recent ‘Winter wear’ video that Tottenham posted on their social media as the players returned to Enfield following the international break.
In this video, a member of their media team showed what the players had started to wear to protect them from the early chilly winter set in the UK.
Towards the end of the video, Dier comes in wearing a sweatshirt but seems to be depressingly aware of his insignificant role in the squad right now. As he approaches the camera, Dier can be heard muttering ‘You don’t need to film, I know you’re not gonna use it’.
"You dont need to film me its ok…

I know you aint gonna use it"
Genuinely feel for Dier here. Likely be on his way in 10 weeks time, but to see the guy so dejected after his service to us, you cant help but have some empathy for what hes going through pic.twitter.com/9NeEGkBY29
Basically, Dier has reached that self-realization moment that as an out-of-favour player he is nothing but downed tools for the club. A lot of Tottenham fans are simply heartbroken at the sad state of affairs for a player who devoted the last nine years of his career to Spurs.
However, the Englishman has no way back into the club and needs to regain his confidence to move forward in his career. The 29-year-old still has a lot of years in him, but needs to find the ideal club where he can strongly bounce back and prove Spurs wrong for doubting his ability.
