Fans React as Thiago Alcantara Dons 21/22 Liverpool Home Kit in New Video

Liverpool, Thiago Alcantara

The Premier League has released a video clip featuring several footballing stars from the league pronouncing their names as they should be in their native languages.

The video – which lasts almost a minute and a half – features 35 players and two managers from across the league. The likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Kevin De Bruyne, Alejandro Garnacho, and Bruno Fernandes, were featured in the informative video. Apart from the players, the video also included Pep Guardiola and Andoni Iraola.

However, there was a section in the video featuring Thiago Alcantara that sparked curiosity. While all the players were seen wearing their recent 23/24 kits, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Thiago Alcântara was featured in the video in his older 21/22 kit.

Needless to say, this became a major talking point considering Thiago has not taken the pitch for Liverpool for a long time. Now, with his appearance in an old kit in the recent video, fans are questioning his existence, if at all.

“This is AI generated he’s been dead since 2022”. Commented a user on X.com.

Since his arrival at Liverpool in 2022, Thiago Alcântara has failed to cement his position in the team. In three seasons, the midfielder has made 97 appearances, scoring three goals and providing six assists. It seems that these performances were not convincing enough for the Liverpool fans.

One of Liverpool’s great frustrations is the inability to keep Thiago fit and firing for any sustained period of time. Thiago has spent a lot of time out injured since joining Liverpool. Last season he was restricted to just 18 Premier League appearances as he struggled with hamstring and hip problems.

This season, the injury-plagued Spaniard has not played a single game since April after numerous setbacks and is unlikely to be back from his ongoing hip trouble until the New Year at the earliest.

His constant unavailability for the club has raised speculations over his future in the team. Moreover, fans have pointed out that Thiago Alcântara has removed the club’s name from his bio on Instagram hinting at his departure.

Moreover, him not featuring in the current 23/24 Liverpool kit for the Premier League video has added fuel to that conversation.

Can Thiago overcome these challenges to reignite his career at Anfield or does his future lie elsewhere? Well, one can’t say for sure but the Premier League video doesn’t really point to a promising career for Thiago Alcântara in the Reds shirt.
