The golden generation of Belgium might be a thing of the past, but the hopes of winning an international title remain alive.
The Euro 2024 starts in June and Belgium now has a golden opportunity to reinstate its superiority on a large international platform.
Amidst this, photos have leaked online that revealed the home jersey for Belgium in Euro 2024.
We have already gotten a sneak peek into the Belgium away kit which was based on the iconic comic book –Tintin.
Adidas has been the official sponsor of the Red Devils since 2014, and this year is no exception.
However, this time, Adidas has taken a significant detour in their traditional home kit color scheme, which has sparked discussions among the fans.
The German company has played a bit with Belgium’s customary color scheme and shifted from bright red to a burgundy palette.
According to Footy Headlines, the kit will also feature a honeycomb geometric pattern on the front, which will incorporate the crown from the Royal Belgium crest.
The shoulders features the three stripes of Adidas in black, coupled with black detailing on the sleeves as well.
The v-collared kit also features curved golden stripes that run from the hem to the sides of the front. The Adidas logo is rightfully placed on the right side of the chest in a similar golden shade, while on the left side, there’s the newer Belgium tricolor logo unveiled in November 2019.
The entire kit will be complemented with black/gold shorts, along with burgundy/gold socks. Concrete information about the same is yet to be revealed.
However, the main topic of discussion is largely based on the overall color scheme. Officially, the color of the new Belgium 2024 home shirt is named as ‘Team College Burgundy’. This color has already been used frequently by Adidas for teams such as Nürnberg and Atlanta United.
But fans have divided into groups when asked to rate this kit for Belgium. Some fans are on the positive side, complimenting the new design and showing their eagerness to get their hands on it.
However, for the majority of the people, the color scheme hasn’t resonated well. They have nothing against the new color, but they prefer keeping the custom of the red kit.
Many of them have taken to Instagram to point out the uncanny resemblance of this Belgium home kit to that of the Venezuela National Team’s home kit, given the similar burgundy shade. People have also tagged it as the Arsenal 2005/06 home kit in Burgundy.
Belgium will open their Euro 2024 campaign against Slovakia in Frankfurt on June 17th before facing Romania five days later in Cologne. After years of perceived underperformance despite having a talented array of stars, Tedesco will aim to turn it into success for the Red Devils this time. They will strive to make this ‘burgundy’ kit iconic, and there won’t be a better opportunity than this.
If you are looking to be a part of their new color scheme and want to get your hands on it, the new Belgium Euro 2024 home shirt will be available from March 2024, retailing at 100 Euros.
