USMNT forward Duncan McGuire looked to be set to get his dream move to England to develop himself as a top striker after impressing in the USA.
The 22-year-old forward, who scored 13 goals in the MLS last season for Orlando City, had struck an agreement with Championship club Blackburn Rovers over a transfer before the winter transfer deadline.
However, the deal was called off by the English club at the last moment.
Even though a transfer fee of around £3.1 million was agreed and McGuire was told to fly to England for the transfer, Blackburn decided to pull out of the deal at the last moment.
What makes things all the more worse is that McGuire had already boarded his flight to the UK in hopes of completing his medicals and everything before the winter transfer deadline (on February 1) and he was still in the air on the flight when Blackburn notified them that they needed to withdraw their offer and pull out of the transfer.
McGuire would’ve been, understandably, infuriated to see his transfer collapse at such a late stage but the player can still play in the Championship next season as he is apparently being courted by Sheffield Wednesday and 3 more clubs.
