The latest post by Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has drawn praise from “drip-conscious” fans.
The ex-Chelsea striker was seen sporting a purple Louis Vuitton jacket and complementing purple sneakers, with light blue ripped jeans for a night out in town.
Odoi posted the picture on Instagram that was captioned “Love, Peace and Prosperity. Stay blessed.”
The winger, who had joined Nottingham Forest in 2023, has scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists in 21 games for the club.
Not a bad record considering the English striker missed 12 games this season either from being excluded from the squad or for being on the bench.
Interestingly, the lack of playing time has not demotivated the striker from staying positive, as evident from his optimistic demeanour in the Instagram post.
What’s special about Hudson-Odoi and the Louis Vuitton purple varsity jacket?
A quick browse would suggest that the jacket is actually called Louis Vuitton X Virgil Abloh FW22 Purple Varsity jacket. One of the most recent products of LV, the jacket is a tribute to the late American fashion designer, Virgil Abloh.
With purple being the dominant colour in the jacket, the right and the left chest area of the same feature the letters “L” in solid yellow and “V” in solid white colours respectively (from the POV of the one wearing).
Animated figures of an angel and a man are printed just below the “L” and “V” respectively. The backside features the print of an animated frog. The white full-sleeves are also pleasing to the eye.
The Ghanaian connection
A man of humble beginnings, Abloh was born in Illinois to parents from Ghana. In 2018, he got himself the responsibilities as artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection.
He got an upgrade in the same brand in 2021 with some higher creative responsibilities. However, the peaking fame was cut short in November ’21 with the man’s unfortunate demise.
“All I do all day is think of ideas and implement them. That’s an industry, you know. I’m trying to make art on a commercial scale.” – Virgil Abloh
Although Callum Hudsson-Odoi identifies as an Englishman, he is the son of the football player from Ghana, Bradley Hudson-Odoi. Callum and fashion designer Abloh’s common Ghana parentage makes the purple jacket on Callum worthwhile.
In the Instagram post, the player is seen wearing the complementary purple LV Skate Sneaker, also from Louis Vuitton.
Cost of the drip and where to find them?
As mentioned earlier, the full tag of the jacket is Louis Vuitton X Virgil Abloh FW22 Purple Varsity jacket. It is supposed to be available in all Louis Vuitton stores, online and offline. However, in light of the high demand, the stores do not guarantee any acute availability. One should find the product marked at 6400 USD in authentic stores.
The complementary LV Skate Sneakers are also from Louis Vuitton and are supposed to be available in the brand’s showrooms and virtual outlets, if not out of stock! It is marked at 8300 USD.
In total, the Nottingham Forest striker had merchandise worth 14700 USD on him, excluding the ornaments.
While Nottingham Forest faces Aston Villa at the Villa Park on February 24, it remains to be seen whether the gaffer, Nuno Espírito Santo, includes Hudson-Odoi in the squad.
