Eddie Howe has been performing above expectations for Newcastle United ever since he was appointed as head coach following the acquisition of the club by the sports investment sector of Saudi Arabian government.
One of the major reasons behind Newcastle’s ascendancy in the Premier League and in football stature in general, aside from the obvious investment potential, is the trust Eddie Howe maintains in his policy of using young players and their development.
Quality young players is a priority for the club and have made investments accordingly. Anthony Gordon has been a revelation for the club. Alexander Isak consistently finds himself amongst the front runners of the Premier League goal scoring charts. Even the likes of Joelinton, Bruno Guimares, Sandro Tonali (even though he is serving his betting suspension), Harvey Barnes are all valuable pieces of the team around which the system and the other spaces are filled.
Just like Newcastle have been proficient in swooping young talents from the market, the also haven’t been afraid to look within. Just like former coach Steve Bruce did with Sean Longstaff, Eddie Howe saw a lot of potential and placed his faith in the 18 year-old emerging midfield talent Lewis Miley.
Lewis Miley was promoted from the Newcastle United’s U21 side playing in Premier League Two this season and has come up against some of the best sides in the world in his debut season. It’s also safe to say that he has done pretty well for himself and held his own in what was a historic campaign for Newcastle where they played in the UEFA Champions League.
After putting in some top displays against the likes of PSG and AC Milan in the Champions League and even Manchester City and Chelsea in England, Lewis has been sidelined with an unfortunate back injury that has kept him out of action since March and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
While an untimely injury and a lengthy layoff can be detrimental for a young talent like Miley, it’s nice to see him enjoying his recovery. He was recently spotted getting a tattoo in his downtime and while it is a tattoo that seems close to him, fans are certainly not impressed by it.
Lewis Miley ringed in his 18th birthday celebrations by getting a tattoo of himself walking at St. James’ Park, the home ground of the Magpies, as Newcastle United are known as amongst the fans. There is also a reference of his even younger experiences of football citing his journey to the first team and also realizing his dream with an inscription, “Never Give Up On Your Dreams”.
While Miley is more than happy with it and its importance, fans couldn’t bring themselves to approve of it. Some hilariously anecdote about it using the advice of not making your own decisions until one is 21, while others are somehow able to make out from his eyes that even Lewis is not really happen with it.
Whatever the opinion, it certainly is a bad look for the tattoo artist and the shop as well.
The tattoo certainly hasn’t been well received by the fans, contrary to the support for the young lad. While his new piece of inked art continues to attract banter and a big thumbs down, the fans are hoping he can get back on to the field soon and put in performances, well certainly better than the tattoo.
After all, what kind of a giant tattoo covers only half a forearm..
