It’s been quite a turnaround at Chelsea isn’t it. After going through yet another tough season, the Blues have turned over a new page and now find themselves firmly in the driving seat for a place in the Europa League.
Credit where it’s due, Mauricio Pochettino has navigated really difficult waters to get Chelsea back in contention for Europe, a position few would have predicted at the start of the season, or infact even a few weeks ago as well. Flowers to the players are also in order, with Mudryk, Palmer, Madueke, all hitting their stride at the right time.
While the coach does deserve the praise coming his way, it’s also important to note the off field changes made by the players to improve their form. While intensity and physical work might surely be a part of it, changing hairstyles has proven to do the trick more efficiently at Chelsea.
The latest one to revamp their hairstyle in this team is Moises Caicedo. The 22 year-old defensive midfielder from Ecuador arrived at Chelsea in the summer for a massive transfer fee of 116 million euros from Brighton and Hove Albion. After a intense tussle with Liverpool for acquiring his services, Caicedo chose the Blue over the Reds of their rivals.
It’s fair to say, Caicedo has had a tough start to his career at Chelsea alongside Enzo Fernandez. The young midfielder has had error-ridden season so far and is struggling to give returns on the investment.
However, as Chelsea’s form picked up, the aura around the team changed entirely. Even Moises has found it better going in the last few weeks and is slowly but surely finding his feet at Stanford Bridge.
So much so, the Ecuadorian has gone for a drastic change in his aesthetics, dying his hair blonde for the rest of the season. After sporting a simple and his usual short haircut, as he has throughout his career, Caicedo has indeed gone for something quite exquisite.
While it’s definitely debatable how good the blonde looks on Caicedo, he looks like he has followed in the footsteps of some of his team mates in Enzo Fernandez and Reece James who saw their best version donning this style.
Even the likes of Jorginho and Thiago Silva saw their game levelled up once they went for a gold look back at the start of the 2021/22 season when Chelsea had a glittering period under Thomas Tuchel, winning the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
While Moises must have definitely taken some inspiration from his team mates and followed their advice on upping their game through their hairstyle, it’s a trend that can be seen in this Chelsea team as well. Nicolas Jackson shaved his head and got rid of his hair in another tribute to Drogba as a sign of humility. Mykhaylo Mudryk now styles a pony of his lush blonde hair to shed away his under-confidence and poor form.
While fans are definitely looking forward to an improved version of Moises Caicedo, they are also finding it extremely flattering on Caicedo.
There’s no doubt as to whether Moises Caicedo is a talented player. An important piece for Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton, is now traversing waters that require another level of execution and work ethic. Still only 22 slapped with a huge transfer fee, he will eventually learn his trade at Chelsea and come good.
Afterall, he has taken the initial step in the right direction.
