Internet Is in Tears Over Kylian Mbappe Checking Fabrizio Romano’s ID

Fabrizio Romano, Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain

Fabrizio Romano is someone you could call a ‘top dog’ in the world of football transfer news. Over the years, the Italian reporter’s ‘here we go’ mantra has become like a seal of approval on transfers.

Romano has gained a huge surge in popularity thanks to his reliability. Not only does he have over 20 million followers on X, but is also close to many well-known footballers and their agents.

However, Fabrizio had a bit of a strange union with departing PSG star Kylian Mbappe. This happened in PSG’s recent 3-1 loss to Toulouse in Ligue 1. This was their final home match of the 2023/24 season and also Mbappe’s farewell, being his last game at the Parc des Princes too.

Mbappe scored the opening goal with a slick finish, his last goal at the PSG stadium as their player. The PSG faithful also unveiled a tifo as a homage to the Frenchman that wrote ‘A child of the Paris suburbs, you have become a legend of PSG.’

Despite the bitter loss, the 25-year-old not only got to celebrate the Ligue 1 championship but also spent time with his family and met other esteemed guests.

Romano was one of the journalist invited onto the pitch during the celebrations. He was fortunate enough to be able to interact with Mbappe, who has been the source of so many news updates for the journalist in the last few years. However, it wasn’t the ‘coolest’ of link-up as Fabrizio might’ve hoped for.

Mbappe bumped into Romano and instinctively shook hands with the journalist at first before checking his identity card. The two shared a nice little chat, but the notable fact that Kylian glared into Fabrizio’s ID has caused this notion that he didn’t exactly know who the journalist was.

Though many refuse to believe Mbappe doesn’t know a popular reporter like Romano. This is mostly because of how deeply Romano has covered the entire Mbappe to Real Madrid saga.

Fabrizio has revealed the potential salary Mbappe can get (£21.4 million a year) and also even a rumored £86 million signing-on fee for the free transfer. While not himself, but Kylian’s entourage has definitely fed information to the Italian reporter in the past and that’s how Fabrizio has gotten so many ‘breaking stores’ around the France captain.

Some are even hilarious remarking that Romano will probably lose a lucrative revenue stream once Kylian actually joins Real Madrid.

However, that is unlikely to really matter for Fabrizio. He’s become too popular a football journalist to be impacted by that and already has many sources of income.

Despite this recent awkward encounter against Mbappe, Romano remains THE go-to figure for football transfer news and one every fan follows religiously once the transfer windows begin.
