The United States of America is ready to go wild this summer with the 2024 Copa América. The 48th edition of the tournament will be hosted across the USA in 14 different stadiums as the whole of the football world looks on for the ball to roll.
The fans are already flocking in with just over a week remaining for the start of the tournament and every participating nation is adding to the hype. Colombia did the same with their official anthem for the event, which featured a surprising vocal cameo from Luis Diaz.
The Liverpool winger is one of the aces of the Colombia team, and he is doing his best to get the nation into the Copa América vibe. Diaz recently featured in Colombian singer Ryan Castro’s song, ‘El Ritmo Que Nos Une’, which translates to ‘The Rhythm That Unites Us’.
Alongside a rapping Luis Diaz, the official music video features Juan Quintero, who also lent his voice. As the pair rapped on both sides of Castro, James Rodriguez, Jefferson Lerma and Mateus Uribe were seen playing a Futsal game. The song perfectly captured the vibrant South American culture of the football-loving country.
While Luis Diaz and Colombia start their campaign against Paraguay on June 25, the Reds star’s club rival is on vacation miles away and is also bringing out his inner musical talent.
After Manchester City‘s hope of a domestic double was vanquished by Manchester United in the FA Cup final, Pep Guardiola‘s men are on vacation mode. While the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Phil Foden and more are with their respective national teams, gearing up for their continental battle, Erling Haaland is living his best life in the sunshine of Marbella.
In a recently surfaced video, Haaland is seen vibing with his inner circle at the Restaurante Playa Padre in Malaga. Haaland was getting in the grove with Angel Sanchez, who helped the City striker transition into a DJ role with the turntables at his mercy. While his shirt selection was questionable, his song selection was bang on with Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean on full blast. A carefree Haaland also rhymed the lyrics of the song as the party continued.
Haaland’s passion for music is nothing new, as he is often seen exiting the team bus wearing headphones on matchdays. Haaland was even featured in headphone manufacturer, Beat By Dre’s commercial alongside NBA legend LeBron James at the tail end of last year. If singing sets him free while his body recovers, it’s only a piece of bad news for his Premier League opponents.
Following a gruelling season, this was a much-needed respite for Haaland. Norway’s absence in the Euro 2024 will give City’s terminator a longer recovery time than his teammates. While Manchester City are locked in a battle with the Premier League over the ‘Associated Party Transactions’ rule, things are looking uncertain for the Citizens next season. There will be a far-reaching effect of how the case ends with a result due in two weeks’ time, as City could find them in an unsalvageable position if they get bested by the Premier League and might find themselves out of the top flight of English football with their ruling of FFP breach case coming in November. If the worst happens, it might give Luis Diaz more reasons to celebrate, while Haaland might need to tune into some wistful music.
