What Happens When Lionel Messi Tries His Hand at Padel? Spoiler Alert: It’s Not Pretty

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez

It appears that Lionel Messi is not just super competitive in football, but any other sport he partakes in too. As it turns out the little maestro is actually quite obsessed with the sport of ‘padel’.

Padel (also known as Padel Tennis) is a racket sport that was originated in Mexico and most requires two people to take on each other in a closed enclosed court.

Messi seems to have taken quite an interest in playing Padel in his free time in the Inter Miami camp. Now Messi might be an unmatched maestro with a football, but that isn’t the case when it comes to padel.

A recent video of him and Luis Suarez playing Padel shows just how hilariously poor he is. The Argentine seems to lack any proper technique or stroke-play in the sport.

To his credit, Messi is self-aware that he’s hardly an expert in padel and that his technique or stroke play are both average – at best. Reacting to that Padel video, he revealed in a recent interview: “I’m not great at padel tennis. I enjoy playing it, but I’m just average.”

Messi can be seen showing a surprising amount of aggression with his strokes, irrespective of whether they are technically strong enough or not.

Suarez is equally as error-prone with his strokes, but doesn’t seem to have the same fire as his Inter Miami teammate. Messi is surprisingly heated up in this match of padel, shouting loudly for every point won by his team.

Needless to say fans definitely saw the funny side of Messi playing Padel –
