The 25-year-old French striker was recently presented at the Santiago Bernabéu as a Real Madrid player effectively as the ‘most expensive free transfer in history’ with a signing bonus speculated to be around 120-150 million Euros along with a 15 million Euros annual salary.
Mbappe’s first day at Real Madrid was marked by a charm offensive aimed at endearing himself to his new teammates and the club’s fans.
Notably, Mbappe was seen giving numerous “winks” to his teammates, a playful gesture that conveyed camaraderie and a shared sense of excitement about their future together.
Following his presentation, Mbappe met with some of his teammates the likes of Brahim Diaz, Thibaut Courtois and Lucas Vazquez.
He can be seen speaking fluent Spanish with his teammates and shaking hands with them warmly. However, people noticed something weird about Mbappe and it soon became a talking point.
It seems that Mbappe’s facial muscles move a bit too much while he closes his one eye for a wink. This, probably, is the reason why it looks very disorganized and twitchy every time he winks.
Some users were visibly irritated with this wink and asked if someone in the dressing room could tell Kylian to stop doing it.
PSG fans also openly talked about his wink, telling Madridistas to be ready for his wink as he keeps doing it a lot. Other users think he’s winking so frequently because of his nervousness, and it will fade away with time.
Mbappe’s winking history
From his appearances in random interviews, Kylian Mbappe does appear to be a casual winker. Although people have rarely noticed him overdo it, he does appear to do it in front of cameras in order to make a statement.
Kylian was seen winking at the camera in the year 2023 after announcing that he would stay at PSG though speculations were ripe that he would not extend his current contract beyond 2024. Following the announcement, he winked to the camera after a scoring a goal for the Parisian club in the final Ligue 1 game.

Another such incident was during PSG’s Champions league 2023 Round of 16 campaign versus Bayern Munich.
The Parisian club was thrashed by then Bundesliga champions in both legs as they advanced 3-0 ahead on aggregate.
Following the second leg of the game in Allianz Arena, Mbappe gave a quick post-match interview in which he said that it’s unfortunate that PSG couldn’t advance, these are the vagaries of football, but the club will have to continue and persevere.
This statement was also concluded through a wink to the camera. Such incidents indicate that Mbappe does have a habit of winking whenever it pleases him.
