The GTA V Throwback We Didn’t Expect Kylian Mbappe To Evoke

Tuesday marked a day of relief for the Real Madrid fans. After years of speculation, Kylian Mbappe is finally a Madridista. And that was confirmed right in front of their eyes during Mbappe’s jam-packed unveiling at Santiago Bernabeu.

Now the Frenchman is getting settled in the Spanish capital and surely Real Madrid will leave no pages unturned to ensure their new man’s comfort. That seemed to work as Mbappe was spotted in Madrid in a casual set of clothing, but his picture went viral because of something completely unexpected.

Mbappe was wearing a beige polo shirt with white shorts, but his picture reminded everyone of Michael from GTA V.

If you have the slightest knowledge about gaming, then you probably have heard of Grand Theft Auto. GTA V was its fifth edition released in 2013 and Michael De Santa was one of the 3 protagonists/playable characters in the game.

The game’s story unfolds in the open world of Los Santos, a virtual city modelled after Los Angeles, and Michael was a resident of the Beverley Hills in it thanks to his questionable source of income.

While there is nothing fishy about Mbappe’s £12 million a year salary, Michael almost scored big early in his life to relax like a regular person.

It appears that many players customised Michael with a laidback look featuring t-shirts and shorts.

Even the standing pose of the laid-back attitude in Mbappe’s picture is a regular visual for those who’ve played the game.

Without zooming in, Mbappe’s hairline almost resembles that of Michael, with the only difference being that Mr. De Santa had a receding hairline on the sides.

The only dissimilarity is their skin colour, but that was turned into a non-factor when a gentleman took it upon himself to photoshop Mbappe in the settings of the game. And hence a meme was born.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot the uncanny similarities between the football star and the GTA V legend, giving us the ultimate EA FC and GTA crossover.

A major similarity to point out between the two could also be their abilities.

Madrid’s new number 9 is known for his menacing speed and marksmanship in front of the goal. Michael also has a similar attribute. In the game, one can use his special ability to slow down time for precision aiming. Just like Mbappe makes it look like with his pace compared to the others.

This was not the first time Mbappe was compared to a Michael. He is famously considered a look-alike of Michael Angelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Hence, we now have another moniker for Mbappe in our distinguished arsenal of memes.
