Fans Fume Over Comic Sans-Style Font on Manchester City Kits

Manchester City have made a discreet yet prominent change to their 2024/25 home kit. The Sky Blue kit not only has unique black sleeves with the 0601 Manchester Area code numbers inscribed, but there is a unique font used for player names at the back of their shirts.

For the 2024/25 kits, the player names will be inscribed in a font hand-created by super-fan Noel Gallagher. The Oasis singer has personally handwritten the names of every single first-team player’s kits and has used the Comic Sans Font for this particular design.

Comic Sans is a widely hated font because of complete lack of aesthetic appeal. This particular design was seen by fans on TV for the first time in the Cityzens’ recent win over Manchester United in the 2024 Community Shield clash.

Manchester City have opted to ditch the beautiful multi-colored typeface font they used for player names last season. It’s safe to say that this change has not really gone down well with their supporters.

The Cityzens’ decision to use this controversial font for their home kit has annoyed a lot of fans. There have been complaints about how Comic Sans has made it a ‘design nightmare’.

Some have even hinted that the creator of Comic Sans (Vincent Connare) might be infuriated because of how messy Gallagher’s handwriting makes the font look.

Fans have even hinted at this Comic Sans font design giving them enough reason to hate the Cityzens. Some have even gone as far as to call it a ‘criminal offence’ and calling them to be relegated for the Comic Sans font itself. Safe to say this trick has not had the public appeal the club hoped for.
