Arda Güler has already made a name for himself as someone to be looked out for in the already star-studded Real Madrid Squad.
The midfielder, who is already being hailed as ‘Turkish Messi’ has not only shown his talent on the pitch in the matches he has played (the most recent being a defeat for Madrid in a pre-season match against arch-rivals FC Barcelona), his humility off the pitch is something that has been coming in talks more often than not.
Arda Güler initially refused to take pictures with the UEFA Super Cup trophy, feeling that he had not contributed to the team’s victory.
It wasn’t until Luka Modrić encouraged him and insisted on taking a picture together that Güler agreed to join in.
This is not the first time Güler has done something of this sort; last season when Madrid won the UEFA Champions League Final, Antonio Rüdiger literally had to push Güler to celebrate with the trophy.
This action of Arda’s have confronted itself with criticisms of some fans who think this was Arda’s ego at display due to the lack of minutes he was given to play.
But most people, including the fans, would know that this was not a display of ego but rather a morality entrenched in the 19-year-old to not celebrate something he did not think he deserves.
This act by Luka Modric and Rüdiger also shows why Real Madrid is famously called ‘Family’ because of the intrinsic support the first team and the substitutes provide to each other.
