Joao Felix and Pedro Neto’s Bromance Spawns a Cute Nickname, Only for Ben Chilwell to Ruin It

On Sunday, a ruthless Chelsea display saw them defeat Wolves 6-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Along with Chelsea securing their first win of the new Premier League campaign, we also saw sparks of a new dynamic duo that could dominate the this season. No, it isn’t Madueke’s self coined “Fire and Ice” duo with Cole Palmer, but instead Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.

Chelsea’s new signing, in some senses, Joao Felix marked his return to the Premier League with a clinical finish converting a pinpoint cross from another marquee signing and Portuguese teammate Pedro Neto.

After their win, Chelsea midfielder and Neto, Felix’s international teammate Renato Veiga dropped a hilarious nickname for the duo on social media.

The midfielder dubbed the duo as “Netflix” picking up parts of their names and merging them into the famous streaming platform’s name.

The synergy between the two can be seen from the get go with the two complementing each other’s play styles, Neto a pacy winger and Felix a crafty, skillful finisher. It’s not just the on-field link up play but the off-field chemistry the two share.

In a video posted by Chelsea, Felix and Neto can be seen sharing a laugh and exchanging banter. Neto while having a laugh says he cannot deal with seeing Felix anymore and that two weeks with him was enough, probably referring to the time the two spent together on international duty during the Euros this summer.

Fans love the new nickname and have also tried to take it a step further in an attempt to involve a third player and create a nickname for a trio, an extension to Netflix, the common slang “Netflix and Chill” involving English left back Ben Chilwell.

Much to fans disappointment, CFCMasi sums it all up perfectly with his tweet, “If Chilwell wasn’t a bum we could have had Netflix and Chill”, leaving it as a “what could have been”.

Chilwell’s tenure at Chelsea has been plagued with injuries leading him to miss multiple games for the Blues. The Englishman who has donned the captain’s armband for the club now finds himself out of favour under new manager Enzo Maresca and has not featured in any of the games so far.

Training away from the first team and almost unwanted by the club, the nickname of Netflix and Chill falls flat and having Ben Chilwell in it even if he is at the club makes no sense as he does not get gametime.

Fans though were quick to find an alternative, a new trio; Neto, Felix and Palmer. How does Palmer find his way into this nickname? His ice cold celebration can easily fit the description for the Chill part of Netflix and Chill.

Fans on X are convinced that Chelsea does in fact have chill with multiple people agreeing that Cole “Cold” Palmer is the perfect fit to cover the Chill part of Netflix and Chill.

“Netflix and Chill”,(Neto, Felix and Palmer) the new trio in football joins the now dissolved iconic trios of MSN (Messi, Neymar, Suarez) and BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano). Chelsea fans hope for this trio to come good and perform consistently, as the three are more than capable of tearing up the Premier League with their talent.

This nickname also presents Chelsea and Netflix with a collaboration. Chelsea who are in a need of a front shirt sponsor could possibly have Netflix as their sponsor, making this a match made in heaven.
