Lil Wayne’s name resonates with rap as he is one of the greatest hip hop icons with hits such as “Got Money” and “Lollipop”.

Only recently did another passion of his get revealed to his fans around the globe and it is surprising to say the least.

Turns out the American rapper is a fan of football and has also pledged his allegiances to North London side Tottenham Hotspur.

Lil Wayne went live on his Instagram liltunechi and in this live he is talking to his viewers from his studio. He goes on to say that he is watching the Premier League and that his favourite team is Tottenham.

The camera pans to a TV on the wall that is displaying the fixtures for the week just gone by, which probably means Wayne was tuned in for Spurs’ first win of the season against Everton.

This clip from the Instagram account, which has more than 19 million followers has gone viral among Tottenham fans.

Upon learning about Lil Wayne’s support for the club, Spurs were quick to jump into action on the viral clip and wasted no time with a response which has now garnered over 500k views.

Spurs’ twitter account acknowledged the rapper’s support asked when Lil Wayne will show up to a Spurs game at the New White Hart Lane stadium.

The response by the club has gotten fans talking and buzzing about the prospect of having the world famous rapper at one of their games.

Although contrary to what Lil Wayne says in this clip from his Instagram live, many reports have previously suggested that Lil Wayne is actually a Chelsea fan.

The rapper has been seen in public rocking Chelsea drip during some of his performances which has led to people believing he is a Chelsea fan.

As there has been no direct confirmation from Lil Wayne about his support for Chelsea, we can say for sure now that those claims can be quashed thanks to his words from his Instagram live.

The rapper probably becomes the most well known Spurs fan amongst many other superstars, joining the likes of fellow musicians AJ Tracey and Adele, British comedian Michael McIntyre and actors Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

So what’s next for Lil Wayne? When does he drop by North London to support Spurs? Lil Wayne is yet to take Spurs on their open invitation but it seems like if he does take it up it won’t be any time soon.

The New Orleans rapper is gearing up for a tour in the US, with his first date scheduled for August 31st and is booked till October 19th. So it is possible that a visit to London is on the cards later this year.
