The majority of Manchester United players have been silenced by their 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool before the September international break.
The Red Devils were totally outplayed at their own yard and most players have seemingly gone under the radar to avoid triggering their fans even more.
But it doesn’t seem like Alejandro Garnacho is particularly pleased at the criticism being leveled his way after the loss.
With two goal contributions (one goal, one assist) in the Red Devils four matches so far in the 2024/25 season, the Argentine has actually been one of the more prolific forward players.
With that being said, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been errors made by the 19-year-old in matches.
One Manchester United fan on X (Twitter) decided to show how sloppy Garnacho has been on occasions so far in the early matches this season by creating a ‘fail compilation’.
This is basically a short mashed-up video where the mistakes or bad decisions made by players in matches are highlighted.
This somehow managed to catch the eye of Garnacho when he might’ve been scrolling th rough the platform.
Rather than ignore this (like most footballers), he tried his best to embarrass the fan and defend himself in public.
He posted a comment on the video that wrote ‘Wasting your time making clips for me – Your life so far.’
Garnacho tried his best to belittle the fan (who doesn’t even have a blue tick on Twitter and doesn’t seem to be doing it for money through interactions) but it ended up blowing on his face.
Most of the Manchester United fans refused to defend him and called him out for being quite childish with his response.
The fan replied to Garnacho’s comment by stating: “Focus on your first touch and dribbling you bum. If you weren’t so bad I wouldn’t have any footage to post.”
This comment started receiving a crazy amount of likes, garnering over 1,000 likes in under an hour and many supporters took this person’s side in this argument.
Garnacho was ultimately forced to delete his comment after probably been notified by someone close to him or a PR person about how badly it reflects on his reputation.
The Argentine winger’s brother (Roberto Garnacho) is attracting a lot of criticism for potentially encouraging this behaviour as he often mocks other players on social media and tries to make it seem that it’s cool to try and ‘troll’ such fans.
Many fans believe that Roberto is the one who probably posted on Alejandro’s behalf based on how he behaves on social media.
While the Manchester United fan who made this compilation video is being hailed for winning this ‘battle’ against Garnacho, he’s also attracting criticism from some Red Devils’ for trying to bring down one of the most promising players in the team.
It’s probably for Alejandro Garnacho’s own best interest that he stays clear of social media for the next few weeks. What he should instead focus on is improving his final product for the Red Devils and delivering more goal contributions on a consistent basis for Manchester United as the season wears on in order to shut up his doubters in the best way possible.
