Jude Bellingham has evolved into one of the most popular footballers after his amazing first season at Real Madrid. The Englishman played a prolific role in helping Los Blancos win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles in the 2023/24 season and ascended himself into truly ‘world class’ status.
Bellingham is not only delivering on the pitch, but is quite focused on becoming a superstar outside the football field too. The Englishman recently launched his own YouTube channel (which has over 500,00 subscribers) to give a deep dive into his personal life and how he interacts with his family members as well as his loved ones.
“Mum could come back and live with me but nah, Jude is useless”
The Real Madrid star opted to release his first video of the ‘Out of the Floodlights’ series, reflecting the period when he joined Los Blancos and also his younger brother Jobe Bellingham joining Sunderland in 2023. The video also gave a deep-dive into the kind of personality Jobe really is, and it turns out that he loves to joke around in the family.
At one point of the video, Jobe spoke about their unique family situation. The younger Bellingham spoke about having to live separate to his brother (who plays in Spain) in the video, stating: “It’s tough. You can’t really put your finger on one emotion, it’s like a range of it where you just miss your month.
“Like whenever I’m meeting my brother, I’m just laughing. We’re constantly making jokes, we barely really talk about football. Maybe if Jude could learn how to cook and drive, Mum could come back and live with me but nah he’s useless. So I’ll have to make up and deal with that.”
“My mum’s the kind of the backbone”
This is in reference to Bellingham’s tough-as-nails mother Denise having to relocate to Madrid to live with him and help him continue developing his football skills.
She moved with him in 2023 and has often been seen driving him to the training sessions as well as taking care about his food and other necessities.
It turns out that Jude is so focused on his football training that he just hasn’t had the time to learn driving or cooking.
But he is extremely indebted to his mother’s devotion towards him, as he noted in the video: “My mum’s the kind of the backbone. She’s the one who gives me the support I need as a son, emotionally and mentally. My dad (Mark) was the exact same when I lived with him and still is, but from afar and he does that job now for Jobe.”
Well, this indicates that Jude might be a bit more dependent on his mother for helping keep his mental health in order during his pivotal first years at a massive club like Real Madrid.
Jobe appears to be the more easy-going member of the family and someone who loves joking around, but the ultimate motive of the Bellingham family would be for the two brothers to play alongside one another for club and country.
“We signed the wrong one”
Hilariously, Jude also even revealed in the same video about a ‘warning’ Carlo Ancelotti gave him upon seeing Jobe’s performances for Sunderland, stating: “I remember one time when Jobe scored twice (for Sunderland). Ancelotti says ‘f***… we signed the wrong one… I’m going to bring him here.’ I said ‘where are you going to play him?’ Ancelotti said ‘in your position’ and then he started smirking.”
Despite not being able to stay together for the majority of a year, the Bellingham family comes off as a devoted and mentally strong unit.
While Jobe might’ve exposed Jude’s lack of life skills in his revelation, it’s clear that both the brothers are more than glad to live with their parents to help them progress into footballers English football will remember for a long time.
