Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller is clearly enjoying the last phase of his memorable playing career.
He recently set the record for being the Bavarians’ most capped player in the UEFA Champions League (152 appearances) and even delivered a cheeky assist in their emphatic 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.
Even though the 35-year-old isn’t a regular starter anymore, he continues to be a jovial figure who improves the bonding between the Bayern players.
He might be a ruthless, no-nonsense player on the pitch – but he is actually a unique character with a wicked sense of humour in real life.
Muller pulled off one of his hilarious antics after Bayern’s win over Zagreb in a training session.
During a rondo, the German midfielder probably didn’t realize that the cameras were on and decided to cheer up his teammates with a hilariously bad dive.
As he received the ball and had Leroy Sane pressing him, Muller took a touch before dramatically tumbling down on the floor without the slightest of touches or provocation.
His antics definitely lightened up the mood among his teammates and some members of the squad just couldn’t contain their reactions.
Vincent Kompany almost went down on the floor laughing after what he just saw, but was able to pick himself up knowing his role as a head coach. Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich was also seen falling down in laughter at what he had just seen from his fellow German player.
But arguably the best reaction of the entire lot was that of Leroy Sane. He was the one who pressed Muller before seeing his senior teammate pull off that hilarious dive and the winger could not contain his hysterics.
Sane was the first player to go down on the ground in laughter and his loud laughing can be visibly heard all throughout the video.
Leroy found this incident to be just a bit funnier than his teammates and decided to mock Muller by laughing like a hyena right in front of his face. Most of the other Bayern players in the rondo session found this to be extremely amusing, with the cameras catching most of them laughing.
Kingsley Coman also had a funny reaction to it.
Rather than stopping everything he did to laugh, he picked up the loose ball that Muller had lost and then scored a goal in one of the mini goals on the pitch.
The French winger didn’t really show the same kind of amusement that his teammates did, just opting to get on with it rather than taking some time to have a good laugh.
To his credit, however, Muller was surprisingly sporting to have this embarrassing moment captured on video.
Only after he did this hilariously bad dive that he actually realized that the training session was being recorded by the Bayern Munich media team. He pointed out to some people ‘Ah at least that’s good to have this on camera’.
Muller also insisted that this will ‘be good for the clicks’ and make for the ‘best content of the month’ for the social media team. Well, he isn’t wrong about that at all. Since it was released, this video of the German midfielder.
Even though Bayern’s social media handles haven’t released it – the video has circulated by various handles and gotten millions of views.
This hilarious moment is another example of how Muller loves bringing joy to Bayern camp and uplift the mood of players. The 35-year-old might not have that much fuel left in his tank, but it’s clear that he’ll continue being a positive energy until the final days of his Bayern Munich journey.
