Micky van de Ven Refuses to Trashtalk FC 25 Over His Pace Ratings

FC 25, Micky van de Ven, Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur

Micky van de Ven proved the sheer might of his speed with the football in a blistering display in Tottenham Hotspur’s recent 3-0 battering of Manchester United at Old Trafford.

In the third minute itself, the centre-back intercepted the ball in the half before astounding fans with an incredible run.

The Dutchman made a darting run from inside his own half into the Manchester United penalty area in a matter of a few seconds, reaching a 37.12 KM/H top speed in the process.

He basically just put a goal on the plate for Brennan Johnson, leaving the opposition players dazed and confused by his amazing display of sheer speed.

Van de Ven has become the fastest player in the 2024/25 Premier League with his recent heroics.

He definitely counts as one of the quickest defenders in world football and arguably one of the fastest overall players in the top European leagues too.

Despite his sensational pace and sprinting ability, Van de Ven’s card on FC 25 hasn’t really reflected his attributes properly.

The Tottenham centre-back has been given a modest 82 overall ranking, but it’s his speed attribute that probably raises the most eyebrows.

He’s been given an 88 overall speed attribute, which includes a 93 sprint speed and 81 acceleration.

Well, Van de Ven definitely made a mockery of that relatively low acceleration attribute with his heroics against United.

That is because he was able to gear up from walking speed to 37.63 KM/H in just a few seconds, covering 56 metres in rapid pace to assist Johnson’s goal.

To his credit, however, the Dutch centre-back seems to be surprisingly humble when it comes to accepting his FC 25 rating, unlike a certain Man City midfielder.

In a recent interview with Science In Sport, Van de Ven was asked if he’s fine with his FC 25 rating and answered: “Ah it’s okay to be honest. It’s okay. (My Speed attribute is) 88 I think. I think that maybe it could be a bit higher but I think for a centre-back it’s really good. We have some fast guys also in the competition (at Spurs) but I think I’m one of the fastest players.”

Well, at least in the 2024/25 season so far, Van de Ven has proven to be comfortably the fastest Tottenham player.

No other player has clocked a 37.12 KM/H top speed like he did against the Red Devils, despite the well known pace of players like Son Heung-Min and Pedro Porro.

The fastest defender in FC 25 currently is Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, whose fastest speed record in the Bundesliga is actually 36.51 KM/H.

Even Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, who has been given a 96 speed attribute in the game, set the record for being the fastest player in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League by reaching a 37.6 KM/H top speed.

As a result, it does feel like a bit of a travesty how Van de Ven’s speed attribute is only in the higher 80s rather than being at least above 90-92, if not more.

While the Dutchman himself doesn’t seem much bothered by being underrated, perhaps EA’s developers will change their minds after seeing his recent heroics in the Premier League to increase his speed attribute and potential overall ranking in a future update.
