Rodri surprised many fans by clinching the 2024 Ballon d’Or award for having won the Premier League and Euro 2024 titles last season.
He decided to pay homage to his partner Laura Iglesias in his speech immediately after claiming the award.
The Manchester City man began his speech by taking time to thank Laura for helping him reach the grand stage of his career.
The two have actually been together for a long time and met when they were still students at the Jamie I University in Castellon, many years before his move to Manchester.
Rodri actually has a degree in Business Administration & Management, but Laura took a different path. In an interview in 2022, it was revealed that Laura was actually learning medicine and wanted to be an astrologer.

Her current line of work is uncertain because of how discreet the couple tend to keep their personal lives.
Just like her partner, Laura also doesn’t have any social media outlets. But the two really like playing golf and share some similar hobbies that have helped him get closer.
The two are like the best of pals and Rodri has even seemingly given Laura the specialized £5,000-worth platinum iPhone that Kevin de Bruyne gifted to the Manchester City players.
