What makes a striker truly “complete” these days? Is it someone who scores goals for fun, or a player who can do everything? Because if there’s one striker who can seemingly do it all, it’s Harry Kane.
Since his move to Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur last year, Kane has racked up 59 goals and 18 assists for Bayern, which are astronomical numbers.
His unfathomable form for both his club and country last season won the English striker the ‘Gerd Muller’ trophy a couple of nights before at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
This award is handed out to the best goal scorer or striker for the season. Basically, the highest-scoring footballer for that year, and that’s what Harry has managed to achieve here.
Kane shared this award with Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, who was absent from the ceremony as the entire representation of Madrid boycotted the ceremony in response to the association’s decision to award Rodri with the Ballon D’Or instead of Vinicius Jr.
Both Kane and Mbappe had scored 52 goals for the 23-24 season and thus shared the trophy.
Kane was ecstatic to receive the award as all strikers are but after collecting his trophy, he was asked on stage which area potentially the forward would like to improve in.
To this, the England captain replied, “Maybe my speed. I need to get a bit more speed. But I don’t know if my age is going to help me with that.”
But when he talked about wanting to improve his speed, fans couldn’t help but see the funny side. The best part?
The camera cut straight to IShowSpeed—yes, the YouTuber named “Speed” himself, who was in the crowd that day. You’ve got to love the irony!
