Ruben Amorim has arrived in Manchester ahead of his mammoth task of trying to make Manchester United a Premier League title-challenging club again.
The Portuguese gaffer comes in amidst a lot of hype and fan fare, having guided his Sporting side to an undefeated start to the 2024/25 season and even defeated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions League.
Amorim officially arrived in the city on Monday (November 11) but was only able to interact with players the next day. He met with the players who are not away on international duty. The 39-year-old was seen sharing sweet moments with players like Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro and Mason Mount in the gym.
He can’t officially start holding training sessions unless able to secure a work visa, which should be secured soon. Manchester United fans were predictably hyped up with the first images of their new gaffer at work, but what caught many people’s attention was his attire for this particular occasion.
Rather than dressing up in normal ‘club attire’, Amorim decided to be a bit stylish to make a positive impression on the players. He turned up to the Carrington training facility wearing a stylish puffed-up jacket, a hoodie underneath it, and jeans to cap off the entire look. It’s almost like he tried to show the player that he’s like ‘one of their own’ with his dress-up.
Well, the Manchester United boss definitely doesn’t seem to be wary of spending decent money for his clothes. That is because he is wearing a puffer jacket from Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler.
In particular, he appears to be wearing the Moncler Provins short down jacket that has the brand’s name written in white around the neck region of the attire. This is a Lightweight quilted down jacket, that has elasticated cuffs and the material is 100% polyamide.
It’s a jet-black jacket that can be extremely warm and perfect for the chilly British weather. This variation of the Moncler jacket worn by Amorim is priced at around £1,241, but is mostly sold out in the majority of the online stores. There are a range of similar designs for Moncler puffer jackets available on their store, with all of them priced well above the £1,000 range.
Amorim also appears to be wearing a black hoodie from renowned Italian designer Valentino Garavani.
This is a basic 94% cotton hoodie with the ‘VLTN’ (Valentino) initials written in white in the middle. This one isn’t cheap at all either, being available for around £728 (plus shipping) in the Farfetch online store.
Amorim even wore this same attire to a restaurant he visited in the city after flying in. The 39-year-old looks to be a fan of Italian luxury fashion and brought his best clothes with him to Manchester.
He’ll probably look to keep that puffer jacket with him to wear in matches as the UK weather gets even colder as we move deep into the winter season. Amorim might be a stylish, promising young gaffer but faces a major task at proving his quality by getting the Red Devils to compete for top honors as soon as possible.
