Who Wore It Better: Twitter Reacts To Trent Alexander-Arnold Going Full David Brent With Brown Leather Jacket And Blue Jeans Look

When Trent Alexander-Arnold arrived at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre on December 20th, his outfit of the day caught everyone’s attention for reasons he likely didn’t anticipate.

Trent was spotted in a brown leather jacket zipped up to the collar, paired with a white T-shirt underneath, blue jeans, and what appeared to be a sleek pair of Adidas Samba OG’s. While the ensemble was undeniably stylish, it sparked a wave of comparisons from fans who drew similarities between TAA and a TV character.

For those well-versed in British comedy, Trent’s look bore a striking resemblance to David Brent, Ricky Gervais’ iconic character from The Office (UK).

Specifically, fans pointed out how Trent’s outfit mirrored Brent’s infamous “Sergio Georgini” look—a fictional, self-proclaimed luxury brand from a classic episode of the show. In the scene, Brent smugly shows off his supposedly designer leather jacket, only to reveal the hilariously fake label, “Sergio Georgini.”

Naturally, when the image of Trent walking into training surfaced online, fans wasted no time pointing out the uncanny similarity. One fan quipped, “Fashion innit” and another mentioning that Trent only needs cuban heels to do a full David Brent.

A couple of users tweaked Trent’s name and came out with possibly the best tweets from this thread of responses: “Brent Alexander Arnold” was one, while the other name was “David Trent.”

Twitter polls soon followed, with fans debating who wore it better: Trent or Ricky Gervais’ character, and the result was lopsided. While Trent’s polished fit certainly held its own, the majority leaned toward Brent, with one user summing up the sentiment perfectly: “It’s Brent’s world, and we’re just living in it.”

The humor didn’t stop there, as some fans drew parallels to another beloved British comedy character, Alan Partridge, known for his equally questionable fashion choices. One fan dubbed Trent’s outfit similarities to Patridge as an accident, hence giving him the hilarious name, “Accidental Patrdige.”

Interestingly, Trent may not be entirely oblivious to the jokes.

Back in 2020, during the COVID restrictions, the Liverpool right-back tweeted about The Office being close to his top three TV series’, and it still being one of his go-to shows to watch. He also hinted that David Brent was one of his favourite characters on the show. With this in mind, we couldn’t help but wonder if Trent’s outfit was, in fact, a deliberate nod to the sitcom. Could he have intentionally channeled his inner Brent to spark this wave of nostalgia and banter?

Whether it was intentional or coincidental, Trent’s look sparked a meme-worthy moment, which the intern took advantage of, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Trent was to sooner or later chime in with his own take on the discussions online.
