Lewis Hall has become the new undroppable figure in the Newcastle United backline after making that left-back role his own in the 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old defender has started in 15 of their 18 Premier League games in this campaign, proving himself as a defensively sturdy full-back who tends to frustrate wingers with his proactive style.
The Englishman has been particularly impressive in Newcastle United’s ongoing three-match winning streak in the league, even bagging an assist in their 4-0 thrashing of Leicester City recently. Hall has helped Newcastle United keep six clean sheets in the Premier League in the 2024/25 campaign so far. He has even managed to keep wingers like Bukayo Saka and Bernardo Silva quiet in big matches.
Hall’s hard-working nature and never-give-up attitude have made him a beloved figure among the Magpies fanbase, with supporters appreciating how well he has replaced Dan Burn in that left-back area.
So much so that some Newcastle United fans have now created a brand new chant dedicated to the 20-year-old full-back. Amid his impressive run of performances, some clips have gone viral on social media of Magpies’ supporters belting out a groovy new chant that celebrates Hall’s impressive campaign.
The chant definitely has a partying vibe to it and one that supporters can definitely have a good time singing. It goes something like this:
Take me on a trip I want to go some day
Champions league, Europe I wanna see you play
I really want to, get Europe with you,
Your my super Lewis hall, my Lewis hall
This irresistible chant is actually heavily inspired by a popular R&B (rhythum & blues) song by British singer Estelle named ‘American Boy’ from her album ‘Shine’. The song also features some lines from American rapper Kanye West, and it even won a Grammy award for the ‘Best Rap/Sung Collobaration’ in 2009.
This popular song sold five million copies in the United States and over 2.4 million copies in the United Kingdom, being renowned for being a funky disco song. The bit from ‘American Boy’ which the ‘Super Lewis Hall’ chant is inspired from goes like this:
Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA
I really want to come kick it with you
You’ll be my American boy, My American Boy
The general peachy vibe of this chant has helped it gain a lot of popularity among Newcastle United fans in the UK. This one has turned out to be a perfect one for supporters to increase their energy levels before matches by belting it out on the train and while travelling to the stadiums.
It’s even turned out to be a brilliant disco dance track for supporters. Soon after their impressive 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day, some Newcastle United fans had a blast loudly singing this chant in pub to celebrate the full-back’s heroics.
The Lewis Hall chant hasn’t really been heard at St. James Park’ that much during matches, but it’s probably a matter of time before regular matchgoers get this into their head and start bellowing it from the terraces. It’ll definitely be a nice way of further motivating Hall, who plays each match with his heart in his sleeve for his childhood club and would be humbled to realize the kind of recognition and love he gets from the fans.
