Morgan Rogers Suspended from GW20, Check 4 FPL Replacements

FPL, Morgan Rogers

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa is currently a side to reckon with. Especially after their shock win against Bayern Munich at Villa Park.

However, they lack consistency. To make things worse, they lack the mainstay of their attack now — Morgan Rogers (£5.5m).

At a point when Olie Watkins seemed to have lost his goal-scoring touch and Jhon Duran was out with suspension, Morgan Rogers came forward to spearhead the Villa forward line. He has performed well in this campaign, with six goals and three assists in his pocket.

Having played every game for Villa in PL 2024/25, Rogers has to sit out now against Leicester, what appeared to be a plum fixture in terms of FPL prospects.

Morgan, who has delivered great dividends to his managers in the last three GWs — 27pts in total, picked up a yellow in the 2-2 draw against Brighton to take his yellow-card count to five. Therefore, resulting in a suspension from GW20.

However, owned by 23% of owners and having created seven big chances so far, Morgan Rogers was one of the best bets in the budget segment of FPL midfielders.

The fact that many of the managers have just played their first wildcard in GW19, makes it a tricky situation. But here are a couple of budget options to replace him before GW20.

Elanga (£5.2m)

Elanga had to leave Manchester United as his career couldn’t flourish there. Now he seems perfectly fine in a Forest shirt — three goals and three assists so far. In the last four GWs, the winger has set the flanks ablaze with a return of 32pts.

Slated to play against Wolves and Southampton in the next three, Elanga could be a differential with just 3% of ownership.

Enzo (£5.1m)

Though the World Cup-winning Argentine midfielder hasn’t delivered any attacking returns in the last three gameweeks, he is a great option to replace Rogers. His expected goal involvements per 90’ stands at 0.39, enough to call for admiration.

Between gameweeks 11 and 16, Enzo recorded 44pts, which is phenomenal for a holding midfielder. His ownership has now risen to 10%.

With a fixture against Palace next, he could be your man for a transfer-in.

Jacob Murphy (£5.1m)

Anthony Gordon has been a fan favourite in FPL since last season. However, his teammate Jacob Murphy is hitting the headlines for a while.

Thanks to a massive 42-point haul in the past five outings, he is gaining traction in the FPL transfer market. With only 4.4% ownership and great attacking returns — three goals and six assists, he could be a differential in GW20.

Jones (£5.3m)

Liverpool appears to be from a different league now, under their new manager, Arne Slot. Amidst stiff competition, Curtis Jones has enjoyed starts in the last two matches and has registered a goal and an assist.

He could be a huge differential, as only 0.6% of the managers own him. Jones will be playing against their arch-rivals, Manchester United, who have hit almost their rock-bottom in recent weeks.

If your subs can fight for the badge, feel free to bench Rogers for this GW.  Aston Villa faces Everton in GW21, with Morgan expected to rake in points.
