FPL 2024-25: When to Use Your Bench Boost?

FPL, FPL Chips

The chips should not be played cheaply in FPL. Yes, they do not have a price tag but you may have to pay a huge price if they are not used wisely.

This year, to spice things up, FPL has introduced another mystery chip, which has been revealed lately to be the all-new Asst. Manager chip. However, among the good-old chips, Bench Boost still remains crucial and retains its utmost importance as a cool differential.

Now arrives the £100m question — when to ask your bench for a much-needed boost? Let’s explore the routes to make the most of this hugely significant chip, which can be played only once in the entire FPL season, unlike the Wildcard.

Take an Early Lead in the Second-Half

The second-half of this FPL season has just begun with everybody stripped away with their first Wildcard. Before the dust settles in, you may strike early with your Bench Boost chip.

Unless your squad members are out with an injury or suspension, this may convert into a decent lead over your friends in the mini-league. If it works for you then you may also see a high jump in the global leaderboard.

Wait for a Double

Double Gameweeks can be another entry point for the Bench Boost chip. If you plan some GWs before using the chip and play the second Wildcard to secure more players with double fixtures, things can be crazy.

A successful Bench Boost here could see you turn the tables upside down, rattle the mini-leagues, and take quite a leap in the overall rankings. However, things are less guaranteed in FPL than in life.

How About an Injury-Time Winner?

What about having a Fergie Time in GW38? There won’t be a better way to take down your rivals from the mini-leagues and topple at least thousands of opponents in the global leaderboard with a single strike.

Having an edge over others in the fag end of the league can be a masterstroke. It helped me win our mini-league Star FPL managers like Abdul Rehman also vouch for this.

Hence, holding the ace till the business end can get things done and dusted for you. Also, it helps you settle scores with your friends as the last GW is always a roller coaster ride, and having five extra players can be the icing on the cake.
