Jake Humphrey has ventured into a different career trajectory since he left his role as a presenter for BT Sport in 2024. The 43-year-old had been an ever-present figure representing the outlet for around a decade, covering the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and also the UEFA Europa League matches telecasted by BT Sport.
Since departing from BT Sport, Humphrey has primarily focused on the popular ‘High-Performance podcast’ where he’s had interactive talks with former Premier League managers and legendary players. Humphrey also has this strange addiction to LinkedIn and is surprisingly proactive on the platform, often posting about what is going on with his life.
The 46-year-old recently made an honest post on LinkedIn on his wife, Harriet, about how they’d gone on a personal date to discuss what their goals for 2025 would be like. He has actually been very expressive about his love for Harriet, often posting about their relationship and detailing stories about how they met and how their relationship blossomed.
Harriet tied the knot with Jake in August 2007. In August 2024, Jake opened up on how they met and showered praises on his wife, writing on Facebook: “I met my wife at Liquid Nightclub in Norwich. I was at a Phats and Small gig, suddenly the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen appeared. And exactly 25 years later we are on holiday with our two children and she’s still happily rubbing sun cream on my back. Harriet is the most loyal, tolerant, ego-free, encouraging, humble, devoted, determined, brave and brilliant person I’ve ever met. She’s the best of us all.”
Harriet has a history of working in the television business as well. She has a history of having worked as a Production manager in her career, and done her bit for some recognizable content. For those unknowing, a television production manager is responsible for handling the day-to-day business side of a production.
The role of a production manager involves taking care of the budget and how much money is spent, planning and organizing the production schedule, managing the ‘below the line crew’ (who are not involved in the creative process), ensuring health and safety measures are undertaken, and handling the employment issues.
Harriet worked in an additional crew role in two episodes of the British TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2007. This is a show where celebrity couples take part in a dance competition to determine the best one. She was the Production manager of the British television movie ‘Racing with the Hamiltons: Nic in the Driving Seat’ in 2012, a movie that covered the first year as a racing car driver of Nic Hamilton, the brother of Lewis Hamilton.
It was probably her work in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that taught Harriet the lesson on why she and Jake should never participate in the competition.
In 2022, Jake revealed that his wife banned him from participating in the competition and stated: “When I was doing Formula 1, I regularly had to field requests from Strictly but there were two reasons for not doing it. The first was that I was always away at that time of year and the second was that my wife worked on the show, and she was like: ‘You are never going on that show, I know what happens to couples that go on that show!’”
But since that job, Harriet has taken the backseat in working in production capacities to venture into different roles. She co-founded the production company Whisper Films Limited with Jake in 2010 and was given the role of director in the boardroom.
In 2020, however, her role changed to that of a secretary of Whisper Films Limited. The production company has worked with the likes of BT Sport and Sky Sports, producing content for the likes of Formula One, The Women’s Euros and international cricket matches too.
Apart from her work in the production business, Harriet is also a vice president for the Young Loves vs Cancer charitable organization in the UK. This is the 12th largest cancer charity in the UK which focuses on young children and the families being impacted by cancer. The charity also tries to influence government and policy-makers by detailing evidence of the impact of cancer on children and young people.
Harriet was appointed as co-vice president alongside Jake in 2020, after which she claimed: “Accepting a role like this, however, isn’t about what it means for me, it’s about what it means for CLIC Sargent. It means that Jake and I will continue to build on the fundraising we have achieved in the past four years, it means that we will do all we can to be a loud, clear, positive, encouraging voice for a small charity doing vital work every single day.”
Harriet is also a trustee for the High-Performance Foundation, under which the podcast is operated. While Jake has become a highly recognizable figure after being in front of the BT Sport cameras for a decade, Harriet likes to live a discreet life behind the scenes.
She has only just over 320 followers on her Instagram and describes herself as a ‘yoga lover’. Jake and Harriet are parents to two children (Florence and Sebastien) and Mrs. Humphrey has done an admirable job in raising the kids as well as supporting her husband’s ventures to become a prominent figure among sports fans in the UK.
