Alexander Isak continued his excellent form by playing a decisive role in Newcastle United’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. The Swedish forward scored in his eighth straight game for the Magpies, as well as providing an assist for Anthony Gordon’s goal.
The 25-year-old tormented intimidating defenders like William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, not letting their physical stature unnerve him. Even though Isak might not be the most bulky or tallest figure in the Premier League, he definitely has the ideal physical shape that has helped him be a success story in Europe’s top-most division.
Isak has the ideal height to succeed in the Premier League but there is a little bit of confusion over his exact size. The Premier League’s official website has him at around 192 CM, but the 25-year-old is billed as 6’4’ on EA FC 25. The reason for this is because 192 CM comes out to around 6 feet 3 & a half inches, which is often rounded to 6’4’ by people within the game.
The Swedish forward definitely towers over what is considered as the ‘average height’ in the Premier League – which is around 183.3 CM (just over 6 feet).
The average height of the Newcastle United squad is also around 6 feet, with Isak normally towering over the majority of his teammates.
He does not, however, rank as the tallest player in the Magpies’ unit.
He is still three inches shorter than the gigantic Dan Burn, who almost makes Isak look like a short person when standing side-by-side to him.
With that being said, Isak does oust most of the Newcastle United players in terms of height. He is comfortably a few inches taller than the physical Joelinton and even ousts Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka in terms of height.
The only players taller than him in the Magpies’ squad are Burn, John Ruddy and Sven Botman.
When comparing the height of Isak with other Premier League forwards, only a handful of individuals manage to oust him.
The tallest forwards in the division are Beto and Erling Haaland (both 6 ft 4.5 inches). Kai Havertz and Jorgen Strand Larsen (6 ft 3.9 inches) are also just an inch or so taller than the Swedish ace.
Thanks to his 6’4 stature, the Swedish forward has been a menacing figure in the opposition box throughout this season.
He’s scored clinical headers against Arsenal and Manchester United. Isak is taller than Arsenal man Gabriel Magalhaes (6 ft 2.5 inches) and is the same height as William Saliba and his physical stature has ensured that the Gunners’ defensive duo haven’t been able to bully him in their meetings this season.
To his credit, the Newcastle United striker even fared well against Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk in their 3-3 draw earlier this season. He scored a goal and troubled the Dutchman, who is actually slighter taller (6 ft 3.9 inches) than him.
The special thing about Isak is that he’s not one of those overly physical Premier Leauge forwards who only depend on their aerial strengths to score goals. He’s been compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry thanks to his surprising swiftness with the ball and ability to be in the perfect areas to score goals consistently.
Considering how the 25-year-old has perfectly moulded his skill set and is perfectly playing to his strengths, it won’t be surprising if he keeps scoring key goals (including towering headers) and braeks the 30+ goal mark at the end of the campaign.
