When you race against time, it’s difficult. But when you have time in abundance, it’s probably more difficult. Ask an FPL manager.
Thanks to the English League Cup and FA Cup third round ties, the FPL managers have got the transfer deadline extended by more than three days. In such situations, in life as well as in FPL, you are bugged by the problem of plenty.
There’s no harm in doing ample research and exploring greener pastures. However, the grass is not always greener on the other side.
These are the times when managers reflect on their transfer strategies, rethink about an asset and go hammer and tongs with their next prospective transfer target.
In such a critical juncture of the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25, our paths cross with Ismaila Sarr.
Sarr’s current boss, Oliver Glasner transformed Crystal Palace to a force to be reckoned with, last season. His managerial brilliance caught the eyes of many potential suitors across Europe and Bayern Munich were chasing for his signature in the summer.
Sarr comes at a great price, with just £5.9m needing to bring him into your squad. He has had a decent season so far, with four goals and three assists under his name.
His xGI (expected goal involvements) looks quite impressive at 0.51 per 90’. Having raked in 68pts in the campaign, Sarr looks a great value for money option.
He set the FPL charts ablaze in gameweek16, when he smashed 17pts against Brighton courtesy of a brace and an assist.
Sarr is blessed with probably the smoothest run of fixtures now — Leicester, West Ham, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Ipswich, and Southampton in the next ten gameweeks.
With an ownership of just 5.1%, Sarr could be a superb differential. He has enough firepower to run riot through opposition defences in this time period.
