Life and FPL don’t follow a particular graphical movement. At least, in most of the cases, the wind changes direction and that too very fast.
Alejandro Garnacho(£6m), the Manchester United academy graduate who won the ‘Premier League Goal of the Season’ last year, appears to have fallen out from the top draw at Old Trafford.
The Argentine forward hasn’t started a single match since he was dropped from the Manchester Derby by head coach, Ruben Amorim. He has registered a paltry return of four points in as many games.
The underlying numbers are even more shocking. His xGI(expected goal involvement) in these games are — 0.39, 0.05, 0.00, and 0.04!
In May 2024, when United pulled off a shock victory over City in the FA Cup final, Garnacho was not only a scorer but one of the orchestrators of the victory which saved ETH his job back then. Now, there are strong rumours in the transfer market that he may be offloaded in January itself to bolster the club’s PSR immunity.
Garnacho has three goals and two assists in this campaign. Not worthy at all. Especially, when you can choose from so many exciting options in the midfield. There are some great budget options too.
Therefore, it’s high time the 5% of the FPL managers who still own Garnacho, should get rid of him.
Alejandro’s United teammate Amad Diallo(£5.4m) seems a cool option to replace him. You can safely invest in the Ivory Coast international, given his red-hot form and a kind run of fixtures. He is having a standout season with three goals and seven assists. With the ‘Viva Garnacho’ slogans becoming almost a thing of the past, Diallo appears your go to man to replace the once-electrifying-forward called Alejandro Garnacho.
