GW22 Preview: Important Injury Updates that Might Affect Your FPL Equations

FPL, FPL Injury Update, GW22 Preview

In life, time is money. In FPL, time is more than money. And injury updates and team leaks are money too.

We are approaching the end of GW21. The last round of matches will take place tonight. This gameweek has been a case of hurrahs and sighs, as it happens with any other gameweek.

There were surprises too. That’s also not something unusual. FPL and surprises go hand in hand. They are a match made probably before heaven was there.

The biggest upset of this gameweek, in all likelihood, was Bournemouth holding Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They were ahead but they couldn’t walk away with three points at home.

Forest away was always a tricky fixture for Slot’s men and they have now drawn two successive games in the league. On the other hand, City too were drawn into a stalemate at the Gtech Community Stadium as Frank’s Brentford didn’t allow them to continue their run in the winning ways.

On the other side of London, Graham Potter’s first match witnessed a Hammers’ win and left room for discussion — if the West Ham assets should be considered in FPL.

Now, managers have started early movements for the next gameweek. Stats, charts and match reports are being dissected and highlights are being watched to find out the next potential target.

In this regard, some injury updates can really help us as we prepare for the incomings and outgoings before gameweek 22. Here we go!

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta is having nightmares. Last Sunday, the Manchester United masterclass didn’t only knock them out of the FA Cup but also cut short Gabriel Jesus’s season. The Brazilian forward has now suffered an ACL rupture and will miss the rest of the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25.

Jesus was in form and was gradually becoming a viable option for not only Arteta but also numerous FPL managers. The Arsenal forward-line looks really thin now, with seasoned Saka and young lad, Ethan Nwaneri already nursing injuries.

Aston Villa

John McGinn is still injured and will be on the sidelines for a couple of more gameweeks. Barkley, one of the most veteran players in the league, who came out with a 10-pt haul against Leicester, is out injured. He has also missed the Everton match, this week.

Bournemouth

There’s still no positive update about Evanilson’s injury. He is definitely not in the scene for the coming gameweeks after undergoing a surgery

Brighton

Joao Pedro was injured and there’s still an air of confusion around his return date. We need to keep a close eye on Brighton’s game against Ipswich tonight.

Everton

Dwight McNeil struck a pair of assists in GW14 against Wolves and has been out since then with a knee injury.

Ipswich

McKenna will be missing again his trusted midfield duo of Hutchinson and Szmodics.

Leicester

RVN can feel the heat as Leicester continue their bid to survive relegation. However, he will be without his first-choice last line of defence, Hermansen and seasoned midfield general, Ndidi.

Manchester United

Jonny Evans, who has been living his dream in the fairytale reunion with his boyhood club, is injured along with Lindelof. Both of them could have been options for Amorim in the Ruben Roulette

West Ham United

Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen has been ruled out with injury and we don’t know clearly when he will be back on the pitch again.

Therefore, make your transfer and substitution plans accordingly. And wish you all the best for GW22!
