Scouting Trevoh Chalobah: The Crystal is Back from Palace

FPL, FPL Defenders, Trevoh Chalobah

It’s not everyday that we write an article on an FPL asset with just 1% of ownership. Chalobah, who just switched sides, has also brought in a change of fortunes for the Blues

Last summer, Trevoh was considered surplus to the requirements when Enzo Maresca came on board after successfully guiding Leicester City to another Championship title. He was soon loaned out to Oliver Glasner’s Palace setup.

After being plagued with a long list of injuries in the defensive third – Colwill, Badiashile, Fofana, Sarr, Gilchrist, and Wiley, the Chelsea deep defence was looking really thin and called for some quick action in the January transfer market. The West London club didn’t waste any time and recalled Chalobah from Crystal Palace. It marked the first move for Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

However, the move sparked some debates and raised too many eyebrows. Chalobah was a regular feature in Glasner’s Palace lineup and there were serious doubts over Chalobah’s chances at Chelsea, despite the team running out of defensive options.

But it was a no-nonsense move on the part of Chelsea helmsman Maresca, who has directly integrated Chalobah to the playing XI. And the move has paid off. Both for Chelsea and for Trevoh.

Considering his budget price tag, Chalobah can be a great asset in Fantasy Premier League 2024-25. At just £4.4m, you can have a route to Chelsea’s defence. Remember, Chelsea has been doing really great this season under their new coach, Enzo Maresca. They are in the top four after ages and will now embark on a kind run of fixtures till GW34, barring Manchester City in GW23 and Arsenal in GW29.

Chalobah is still fresh from his 8pt-haul in what can be called his second stint for the Blues, against Wolves at home. He registered an assist and bagged three bonus points in the clash with a struggling Wolves side. Therefore, despite missing out on a clean sheet, he delivered 8 important points to his managers in FPL.

Moreover, this was no fluke. In Fantasy Premier League 2024-25, he has scored three goals and made one assist in total. Hence, he can also help you with attacking returns. With 62 pts in this season’s FPL, things seem to go only upwards and onwards for Chalobah from here.
