Lisandro Martinez’s Dance Move Explained

Football Celebrations, Lisandro Martinez, Manchester United

Lisandro Martinez enjoyed an eventful evening at Craven Cottage during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Fulham.

The Argentine defender came into the clash after having assisted Bruno Fernandes’ winner in the 2-1 win over Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.

The 27-year-old faced a tough challenge against the Cottagers’ speedy attack. He was challenged physically and had to be at his proactive best against their physicality.

However, it was Martinez who ended up having the last laugh against the Cottagers with a 78th minute winner.

Martinez was clearly delighted to score his second goal of the 2024/25 season. His celebration, however, was clearly out of the ordinary.

The 27-year-old started making some strange gestures using his hand, delighting Amad Diallo in particular.

This wasn’t a kind of celebration he had ever done before.

Well, it turns out that this is actually a throwback to a popular dance step by Argentine singer La Mona Jimenez.

He is one of the most popular living singers to come from Argentina, having sold over 36 million copies and 90 albums released in his career.

This particular dance step was inspired by Mona Jimenez’s famous song ‘Quién se ha beber todo el vino,’ aka ‘Who has drunk all the wine?’.

This song was released way back in 1986, even before Martinez’s birth, but has remained a very popular song. Jimenez is not only a great singer, but an irresistible dancer known for his lively steps.

Lisandro has shown his liking for Jimenez on Instagram where he uses the singer’s songs on some of his stories.

The 27-year-old doesn’t score too many goals, but he ensured that this one would be remembered for quite a while with his unique celebration.

In doing so, he’s brought more awareness towards the wacky personality of Hola Jimenez and also invariably triggered anyone trying to undermine his talents.
