Aston Villa’s passionate fanbase at the Holte End once again delivered a breathtaking tifo display, this time paying tribute to legendary rockstar and lifelong Villa supporter Ozzy Osbourne.
The display, that had been teased prior to the final matchday of the Champions League group stage, was unveiled ahead of Aston Villa’s clash against Celtic.
A Tifo For The Ages
The mega-art featured an iconic image of Ozzy Osbourne wearing an Aston Villa shirt surrounded by various elements related to the Villans. Above Osbourne’s picture were the words “Up The Villa” in a stylized, drippy font, and in smaller text were three more phrases: “Every week we follow..”, “Villa till I die..” and “Claret and blue army.”
On the bottom of the tifo were images of previous tifos from Villa Park and pictures of famous Birmingham landmarks.

While most tifos are fan-led displays, it is still up in the air if Aston Villa themselves played a role in helping the tifo come together because of prior Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne collaborations.
Tweets mention the famous 1897 group that creates fan displays, while another thread on X read: “Club funded,” to which @ultras1899_ responded, “Oh yeah, definitely, but I love the concept.”
The sheer size of the tifo and the artistic execution would have taken time and manpower, with videos of of the final tifo a day before the game being shared as well.
To commemorate the occasion, Villa released limited edition t-shirts featuring the tifo design, available both in-store and online.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Connection To Aston Villa
Ozzy Osbourne, a Birmingham native, has never hidden his love for Aston Villa. Growing up in the Aston area, he, alongside Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, has been a lifelong supporter of the club.
Ozzy delighted Villa fans as he posed in his Villa kit alongside his pet bulldog Bugzy with the caption: “Up the Villa,” a few weeks ago.

Over the years, he has been involved in several collaborations with Villa, further strengthening his bond with the team.
In July 2024, Ozzy and Butler starred in an advertisement for Aston Villa’s new home kit, a campaign that also featured a skit with Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne. Just a few months prior, Villa even wore special edition Black Sabbath-inspired kits for a Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace, further intertwining the club’s history with its famous supporter.

This was part of Villa’s partnership with adidas and the legendary rock band, which also featured a new custom version of an adidas Predator boot featuring a hand-painted design, which was worn by Emiliano Martinez.
A Night To Remember
The Ozzy Osbourne tifo turned out to be a good luck charm as Aston Villa put in a dominant performance against Celtic. A hat-trick from Morgan Rogers and a goal from Ollie Watkins saw Unai Emery’s side cruise to a well-earned 4-2 victory.
Speaking about the tifo, Aston Villa released a statement highlighting its significance:
“A celebration of the club’s heritage with global appeal and a local heartbeat, the Prince of Darkness embodies Villa’s Aston origins, bridging the worlds of rock metal and football. A living legend who, like Villa fans, carries his claret and blue pride across borders. Together, we celebrate our roots, our passion, and our relentless pursuit of glory.”
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife, recently shared that the rock icon hopes to play a farewell concert at Villa Park as a “goodbye” to fans, an event that could see a reunion of Black Sabbath. Though the concert is yet to be finalized, Ozzy remains deeply connected to his home city and beloved football club.
