Enzo Fernandez gave a unique ‘souvenir’ to a Chelsea fan after their 2-1 win over West Ham United. The Argentine midfielder had an eventful game, covering a lot of ground and helping them mount a comeback in the entertaining London Derby.
The 25-year-old had an adorable reaction to Pedro Neto’s goal and worked his socks off to impress the Stamford Bridge crowd. But after the end of the match, he decided to do something out of the ordinary with the supporters. Normally, players love to show their appreciation towards fan by giving one lucky member their match-worn shirt.
This is normally done to children or younger fans to ensure the supporter remembers the gesture for a long time. Fernandez, however, did not want to give away his jersey for some reason. Instead of that, he decided to take off his shorts and then give that away instead.
In a bizarre moment, Enzo was seen giving away his match-worn shorts and throwing them to a supporter. Strangely, the ‘lucky’ fan who actually got their hands on it wasn’t even a kid. It was indeed a grown man who got ahold of the shorts and seemed delighted to have them.

The supporter could even be seen sniffing the shorts for some reason. There’s hardcore fans and then there is this level of fanaticism.
This moment even stunned those sitting in the Sky Sports studio covering the game. Sky Sports’ presenter had an advice for the support, saying: “Get them straight in the washing machine on a hot wash.”

Jamie Carragher was surprised by what he saw, and he could only react to it by exclaiming: “Oh, woah, woah, woah, woah!” Strangely, this is not even the first time that a footballer has given away their matchworn shorts after the end of a Premier League game.
In fact, Enzo might’ve been inspired by Mateo Kovacic in donating his bottom wear. At the end of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United in 2022, the then-Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic did something similar. The Croatian midfielder was a feeling a bit too good and gave away his entire kit.
Indeed, after giving his jersey to a supporter, Kovacic even gave away his shorts. He was pictured running back to the dressing room wearing only his underwear. Fernandez might not have resorted to such extremes, but his strange decision to give away shorts rather than a T-shirt has confused many.
In fact, most people on social media are disgusted by how the Chelsea fan could sniff the pants. One fan commented ‘Joachim Löw influence is crazy‘, comparing the fan’s behavior to how the ex-Germany boss liked to put his fingers inside his underwear and then sniff them.
Another fan commented ‘Apprehend that man and lock him up’. A supporter tried defending the Chelsea fan’s strange actions by comparing him to a club’s kitman, who often has to wash the players dirty laundry.
The fan noted ‘We’re in the Ally Louks era and people are still judging. Kit men soak themselves in used jerseys.’ The Argentine midfielder’s actions were definitely strange. But the baffling response from the Chelsea match-goer shows how weird certain people’s kinks can be.
