FPL Thought: What to Do with Raul Jimenez ahead of Double Gameweek 25?

Best Budget Options in FPL, Double Gameweek, FPL, FPL Forwards, Fulham

We are going through the first double gameweek of this fantasy season and there’s another double gameweek waiting in the corner. Therefore, we need to value our transfers very carefully. The assistant manager chip has also gone live now and will come into the transfer talk as well.

Raul Jimenez has had a more than decent season, often emerging as one of the best budget forwards in the game. His price-tag made him an instant appeal to the FPL managers when he started to score quite frequently.

The Mexican forward hit the 100pt-mark last gameweek, when he scored 8pts against Newcastle United. He has nine goals and two assists from nineteen starts so far and is a nailed-on starter for Fulham.

With the English League Cup semi-finals presenting before us double gameweek 25, the second consecutive double gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25, we need to rethink about Raul Jimenez — buy, hold, or sell?

The way things stand as of now, Marco Silva’s side can have an extra match in gameweek 25 if … There is always an if in FPL. If … Spurs beats Liverpool and makes it to the final of the Carabao Cup. Hence, Fulham assets can sell like hot cakes very soon.

Alex Iwobi is a nice pick alongside Antonee Robinson. And Jimenez can be a better choice than current template pick Alexander Isak and last week’s hat-trick hero Chris Wood. Both of them will have a tough road ahead and the possibility of a double gameweek in GW25, increases Jimenez’s fantasy appeal to a great extent.

The Fulham no.9 has outperformed his xG(Expected Goal) and after drawing three successive blanks from GW21 to GW23, Jimenez found his name on the scoresheet at St. James’ Park last weekend. He had scored 22pts from two games, prior to this bad patch.

Jimenez was in red-hot form during his purple patch between GW4 and GW8, when he smashed a jaw-dropping 36pts. Even if you set aside the potential of Fulham enjoying a double gameweek in GW25, the Mexico international has some pretty cool fixtures going forward.

Barring Nottingham Forest at home next week, Marco Silva’s men have some porous defences lined up before them till GW29. Therefore, I would suggest you hold him for the time being and if you don’t have the Fulham frontman yet, then wait for the Carabao Cup second leg semi-final results. Jimenez is cheap and can provide more value than the money costs to bring him in.
