Alphonso Davies Salary: Fans in Shock Over the Amount He Earns at Bayern Munich Now

Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich

Alphonso Davies has signed a new long-term contract to pledge his allegiance to Bayern Munich. His new deal is until the end of June, 2030 and the Canadian defender is determined to win many more trophies with the Bavarians.

Davies rejected rumoured interest from Real Madrid to sign a new contract with Bayern after a lengthy saga. But there is a good reason behind this. It seems like Davies could not say no to the kind of money the Bundesliga side were willing to offer him.

Bayern Munich added multiple different performance-related clauses into the Canadian full-back’s deal to make it more lucrative for him. Davies has reportedly received a whopping £18.3 million loyalty fee for signing the new deal.

He is also in line to get a £1.6 million bonus from Bayern Munich if he helps them win a UEFA Champions League title or wins a Ballon d’Or. He could also get £412,000 if voted into the Ballon d’Or XI or FIFA’s The Best Team of the Year in the next few years.

On top of that, Davies’ yearly salary is estimated to be in the range of £12.5 million to £16.6 million (before tax).

The 24-year-old defender is not Bayern’s highest-paid player with this new deal. Harry Kane gets that with a £21 million yearly salary. But he’s still getting paid a significant amount for a defender.

The majority of fans are quite baffled to see Davies this kind of money, with some believing that the pressure from Real Madrid caused the Bavarians to pay him so much.

Some supporters are laughing at the Ballon d’Or clause in the deal. There is also a feeling that Davies is not the same explosive player he was during Bayern’s 2020 Champions League winning year and he’s getting blatantly overpaid.

However, Davies has found backing from some Bayern fans, who feel it’s better to pay him this amount than spend even more on signing a top quality left-back.

Davies has four goal contributions (one goal, three assists) in 25 matches for the Bavarians this season. He has to do much better at a consistent basis to help his side win major trophies and prove that he’s worth all the money paid to him.
