Arsenal legend Thierry Henry revealed a fascinating personal hobby in a recent episode with the CBS Sports’ panel.
The Frenchman is currently juggling multiple roles in his life, working as a pundit in UEFA Champions League and also as the France under-21 side’s manager.
Despite devoting his life to football and scoring over 400 goals across his decorated career, Henry seems completely obsessed with one area of pop culture.
Recently, the CBS Panel did a ‘Favourite cartoon character’ quiz to its different pundits.
Henry decided to show off his knowledge and love for Manga characters in this occasion.
He stated: “It’s a tough one between Son Goku and Cobra. If you don’t watch Dragon Ball Z, that’s on you.’ When Micah Richards pointed out that it’s Goku, Henry corrected him by saying ‘His name is Son Goku, but it’s alright’.
However, Henry insisted that his favourite cartoon character would be Japanese manga character ‘Cobra’ from ‘Space Adventure Cobra’, stating: “I’d have to go with Cobra in Japanese. If you don’t know, do your research.”
The Frenchman also got pretty triggered when host Kate Abdo asked for a ‘more normal one’ from her co-pundits. He slammed her insisting ‘there are no wrong or right answers!’

Well, Henry’s response has gained him more respect from many football fans. One fan noted: “He officially become even more goated after this no cap. Dragon ball influence is just unmatched.’

Some have stated that his love for Dragon Ball probably comes from the Japanese manga and its animated TV show becoming world famous in the late 1980s, when the 47-year-old was growing up.

Fans are also surprised with Henry’s sheer knowledge and how he directly referenced the manga rather than anime shows. He’s also been praised for mentioning Space Adventure Cobra, which gained popularity in the 1980s too.

Even individuals who don’t like football appear to have become Henry’s fans because he mentioned Cobra! Henry has newfound respect because of his impressive Manga fandom and has definitely outed himself as a man of culture by expressing his love for the art.
