Liverpool will get the opportunity to win their first trophy in the Arne Slot era in the 2024/25 Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. The Reds made an inspired comeback against Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final to book a place for Wembley on 16 March.
Well, the club’s official store definitely seems excited for the game. A month or so before the clash, Liverpool’s store released a brand new merchandise for the Carabao Cup final. They’ve created a new half-and-half t-shirt for fans traveling to Wembley for that occasion itself.

This is basically a grey tee with a square graphic attached right in the middle of it. This graphic is split in half, with the left side having the red colour of Liverpool along with the Liverbird. The right side has the black and white colours of Newcastle United and features their club crest as well.
The Carabao Cup’s image is placed right in the middle with the words ‘League Cup Final 2025’ written over it too. Normally, half and half scarves are often carried by supporters for such finales, but this t-shirt design is definitely one-of-a-kind.

However, Liverpool have faced a major backlash from fans on social media for this strange attire. They are being criticized for being ‘out of touch’ for almost trying to encourage their supporters to wear the colors and badge of a rival team in a major final on their tee.
One fan commented: “Wearing a top with another clubs badge on it should be illegal. What are they thinking selling that on their website. Big clubs catering to tourists more and more.”

Even a Newcaslte United fan voiced their disgust at this, stating: “Absolute state of this. No Liverpool top should have black and white/#NUFC crest on it. Likewise, no NUFC top should have red or a Liverpool crest on it. If you wear this you should have your Wembley ticket revoked.”

It looks like the online outrage has forced Liverpool into action. That is because this tee, which was priced at £30, is no longer available on the website. They might’ve been forced to scrap the design altogether and the backlash will probably force them to come up with a more attractive tee before the final.
