Fan Talk: Is This the End for Theo Hernandez at AC Milan?

AC Milan, Champions League, Theo Hernandez

AC Milan suffered a shock elimination from the 2024/25 Champions League at the hands of Feyenoord.

The Rossoneri failed to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg, being held to a 1-1 draw and subsequently losing the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Amidst the exit, Theo Hernandez is being singled out as the reason for their failure.

In the second half, the French player received a red card for a blatant dive inside the Feyenoord box.

He was already on a yellow card, and the referee did not hesitate to issue a second yellow, reducing the Rossoneri to 10 men.

Milan created plenty of chances after Santiago Gimenez’s early opener and looked primed to score a decisive second goal.

But Hernandez’s departure crippled their attacking patterns, allowing the Dutch side to be braver and more ruthless on the counter attacks.

AC Milan’s loss is being heavily pinned on their 28-year-old fullback, whose performance has drawn widespread criticism.

Many believe that had the team played with eleven men throughout, their dominance would have secured a comfortable victory.

The Rossoneri had seven shots on target compared to Feyenoord’s one, the majority of which came before the sending off.

As one fan commented: “Bravo Theo, you crowned this failure of the season in the perfect manner.’ Another fan wrote: “Theo has enormous blame for his stupidity.”

There is a belief that this horrendous performance could spell the end of the road for Hernandez at AC Milan.

His contract expires in June, 2026 with Conceicao reportedly lining up a replacement already.

If the Rossoneri do decide to offload him based on the stupidity he showed against Feyenoord, then fans think Theo has nobody but himself to blame.
